    Visited last week for the Garganey, and noticed that the 2 Med Gulls were courting. Any previous Staffs/Warks breeding records? Hats off to the RSPB, the reserve is coming along nicely!

    It was in the field viewable from the hide right at the back of the flashes late PM. Lighting was pretty poor, but managed to scope it a couple of times before it went out of view.

    Most of the above today, plus Pink-foot with the Greylags, Buzzard, female Goosander, and best of all a Bittern overflying the Carpark at Dusk, which went right over our heads!! Last out just as the first doggers arrived;)

    Tried that, gave myself eye strain. Nah, was thinking more along the lines of a cardboard cut out. I could then attach some thread and whilst remaining hidden, pull it along outside the front of the middleton hide. Only problem is, somebody would miss I.D it as an American Purple Gallinule:C

    Maybe the reporter was dyslexic, getting Titchwell mixed up with Middleton. Quite easily done since ive done it many times (usually after a few imbibes of Speckled Hen) But it is done. Therefore, we should not be to critical:'D

    Good. As to Otter's. It is worth remembering that they do take eggs and nestlings aswell as fish! With the amount of other habitat they have in the area, i dont think it hurts restricting them from a small area.

    I dont mind the fencing. The RSPB will have done thier homework on species it hopes to attract to the site, such as Avocet's which John has mentioned. But there is a long list of other potential colonisers as seen when you look down to what the area has attracted down the years! One question...

    Another brief visit this afternoon, mostly to try out the converter. Good numbers of Wigeon around the reserve with a Pintail among them. Redshank, Dunlin and a singe Ruff. Cettis Warbler was heared, and up to nine Little Egret's together. Hornets can stilll be found on Ivy along the woodland...
