    That is exactly what I thought. The Wildlife Trusts have the same code for all the reserves (as far as I know), and I would imagine that we on here, all know the code. Whilst the WT code is pretty much public knowledge - probably not with the "ne'er do-wells"

    That is what we decided - not as a protest or anything like that, but that the whole reserve seemed to be very much in a state of WIP. It looks like things are finally getting sorted out. This is very welcome as I am sure that Middleton will be a first class reserve.

    It does all seem to be a bit of a mess, whatever is happening at Middleton. The last time that I went, I was carefully making my way through deep ruts caused by machinery on site. I was never sure if I was in, or out, of the allowed areas of the reserve. If this new hide is officially open...

    Thanks for the reply John, appreciated. I'm trying not to be pedantic here, but shouldn't members visiting the reserve, have access to the hide? ie. Know the code for the hide?

    Does anyone know the situation regarding the new hide. Will the staff open up the hide at dawn (and the key code is for them to use)? Will the code be known to RSPB members?

    As I said John, I'm just curious really. Not particularly "concerned". It seems that they are running the scheme on an "honesty" policy - which is fine. Let's face it, birders arrive and leave reserves at some funny hours of the day (and night), and nobody could expect a "manned" ticket...

    How do they know who has paid, and who hasn't? Who is a member and who isn't? I'm just curious as to how they are going to run this scheme. I am a member.

    Surely the figure should be £6,000 ? £60,000 would include heating, toilets , coffee machine etc?
