    Hi Peter,as far as Field Guides are concerned,the Peterson Birds of Eastern and Central N.America is a good one. You might like to buy the 'full-size' Sibley Guide as well,as you may be there regularly and that will give you a comprehensive ID kit. I'm sure there will be more info to come from...
