    Second Day Out These blue heron images are from my second day out with my SW80ED. I did slightly better regarding focus. I have a tendency to favor the foreground. I wonder if the day will come when I can liberate myself from the tripod. The herons are impressive in flight.

    Thanks Tord. The focus depth is thin and I have not looked into diopter viewfinder settings which may help me. I do not expect the best results shooting closely into the sun, especially with untried optics. While no ED optics are perfect, I am pleased with how the SW80ED stood up to this...

    What is an approximate distance for filling the image frame with an average size bird using a 600mm focal length (prime focus sw80ed) on a Nikon DX size sensor? My telescope is in delivery and I am scouting locations. I purchased an 2" focal extension tube.

    Nice exposure focus and image detail Paul. The ground here still has a snow cover as I wait for the sw80ed. The quality of your images make me impatient. Do you find images require much post processing beyond brightness and contrast?
