I think i'm too close to the subject on these test shots. Even with using the cap stop down method, the DOF is still too thin. The shot below was on a tripod, with focus being live view / zoomed in

Very true, and to be fair, the light for the Tamron / Whitethroat was much much better than the Blue Tit with the scope

The bird with the bug is a Whitehroat shot with a Tamron lens, not the scope I was hoping that i could match the IQ with the ES scope and was posting an example compared to the Blue Tit which was shot using the scope

I'd like to get the same quality IQ that i get with the Tamron 600, but i dont think i'm going to improve enough to match it Here's an example shot at Farlington Marshes with the Tamron, while i was camping down that way, a Whitehroat

The weather has been abysmal here and havent gone outside with the ES 80 yet, but captured a Blue Tit on my feeder. Slightly better IQ than the sparrow The trees in the backgound are around 200ft away, so i get a fairly decent backround when birds are on the feeder

You take a great photo with the C5 Stefano. I have heard that the C5 is difficult to shoot birds with, so your photos are exceptional. Well done indeed. I had a small play with the Shadows and Light options in Adobe CS4, just to see for myself if i could rescue some of the blown area in the...

Thanks Cango - yes i struggle with BIF because of the lack of luxuries that our AF friends take for granted. I had to use a " spray and pray " technique because of using a scope, but also because these Lapwings dont seem to know which direction they want to fly in. Its a really odd looking...
