Dan, I really can't agree with you here, all the scopes I used had near perfect bokeh. I’ve never seen any effect like that from my scopes. My 804 weights slightly less than 2.5Kg, but I removed the dual focuser knob, witch was about 130g.

Does the 5D has an electronic curtain? I'm not used to canons so I don't know, but that image does seem like electronic curtain issues to me. My flattener was the skywatcher (same as WO), I still have it if you need one, I'll sell it to you very cheap :P Frankly I didn't like it on APS-C...

I use the TL 804 with a 2" focuser, but I have no experience with full frame, so I really cannot tell you anything for sure. I can give you some opinions though. First a question, are you using a flattener with the 72? I seriously doubt that vignetting comes from the focuser itself, there's...

It's not an issue because the SLT mirror is easily removable. It's removable for cleaning I suppose, or even for an easy replacement if necessary. You can simple chose not to put it back and shot without mirror, of course without it there will be no AF, but to use with the scope it's not a...

We probably should have discussed this on a separate thread or PM, but here goes... Well, I did say “for me” ;) So keep in mind this is just my personal opinion, each user will have it's own preferences and priorities. The mirror is a non issue if you're using MF lenses only, just remove it...

At this point I would say it’s the best digiscoping camera in the market (either this or the A77 depending on your needs), At least for me. That said, I still have some mixed feelings about it, it’s really good in some respects, but could be quite better on others. The upsides: I bought it...

Tord, that grebe is really good, very sharp, well done. Here are some from my A65 with the TL APO.

I don't know if it exists for EF mount, this TC was made before EF mount. At least all I've seen are from the MF lenses times. Focus peaking is very intriguing, in theory it should be a remarkable feature to have, but I've read a lot of inconsistencies through the various users about it, some...

By MC7 I imagine you're referring to the new DGX, right? If that's the case, it's neither...it's the Kenko Macro 2x converter. It's an old kenko converter (also sold under vivitar brand), it was designed to turn a 50mm lens into a 1:1 macro lens. It has it's own helicoid focuser, acting as a...

I like that second image very much, very artistic look. I don't think the G5 has the same sensor, the OM-D appears to be somewhat better. If the "how much" makes much of a difference in the real world, I don't know. But there's other aspects of the OM-D that makes it a better camera then the G5...

For now, I'm using the Panasonic G5 with the TL APO804 scope. A Sigma 1.4x and a kenko Macro 2x converter. And of course, I still keep the D90...for now ;)

For me right now is mostly songbird season, until about the end of October. After bird migration stops, I'll start going after water birds and such, there's usually hundreds of interesting birds staying here for the winter. Thanks. It's one of the aspects I always try to get as good as I can.

Thanks you guys :) You have the right to envy me there, no doubt, I do live in a great place for bird photography. I have a lot of light to work with most of the year, lot's of species from different groups of birds, etc. Lots of scenarios to work with too. Of course there are days like the...

My first shots with the G5 and the TLAPO. All done with the scope alone, no TCs. ISO 200 all of them.

Here's a D90 vs G5 quick comparison: http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-Cwq9Dx5/0/O/i-Cwq9Dx5.jpg 100% crops only, the original scene doesn't have any worth, it's just a rock on a roof. I used higher ISO values to see some noise on both cameras, also shooting at 1/4000 to avoid vibration...

    Astroscope + DSLR = Gallery!

Like I said, I bet on that...that doesn't mean I'll win the bet though :P But really according to the test I've been doing, the G5 really had an edge over the D90, and it's quite noticeable. I'll show you some crops tonight. AFAIK is not the same sensor, the OM-D uses a new Sony sensor, the G5...

An APS-C sensor will always have less noise than a 4/3 or m4/3 sensor, providing they use the same technology. That said, if you're shooting from the same location using the scope for example, the 4/3 will give you a better quality file, at least I'll bet on that. And the results from my D90 vs...

That shows a very decent improvement, very interesting. I was under the impression that the OMD IS didn't work so well with manual lenses, at least a remember reading it somewhere, so I discarded that function a bit... I guess I shouldn't have.

Very nice set Cango, very sharp and well focused. I bought myself a m4/3 camera too, although I went with a G5, the OMD IBIS did make me curious though. Did you make any tests with and without IS? Just curious how effective it is on the scope.

Hi Paul, Yes, all these were shot at spot with a wildlife pond and feeders, the greenfiches were flying from the perch to the feeders. This has been my main project for the year, I'm arranging a property I have specially for song birds, I’ve a few feeding stations and a pond for now, also have...

Wrynecks are a really amazing birds, they're behaviour is specially interesting when they twist their necks when being disturbed. Unfortunately this guy didn't do that for me, I guess I didn't disturb him enough :) A few more varied shots from the TL, all done with the 1.5xTC attached.
