    Green Woodpecker Lovely close views of a Green Woodpecker at Ryton Willows just now. Have always wanted to see one this close to home.

    Sunday 3rd March saw 10 Waxwings on the railway path between Washington and Birtley. Didn't realise they stayed around that long! This morning saw Roe Deer, GSW drumming, >10 Song Thrush territories, Yellowhammers and Jay on short run along Ryton Willows.

    Amazing time at Clara Vale on Saturday (26th). Kingfisher was very obliging, going into bushes I'd never seen him in before and eventually fishing from the stream that runs off the big pond near the woodland hide. Mistle Thrush and Redwing from the pond hide too. Loads of Redwings and other...
