As stated, Richard, it's the best one to park on. There are passing places on the road down and if it's full just carry on down the hill and park on the corner and you can walk along Dowles and back along the Railway line and many other options in-between... Laurie:t:

There's quite a few BF faces i would like to meet, Joe, a few i would like to warmly shake..........by the throat! However, it takes all sorts and the world would be a sad place if it was all inhabited by people like.....me;) I was impressed by the hair, no chance of me emulating it is i don't...

No Phil - this knobhead was lurking in the Orchard, i think some people fail to realise that these birds do not make long migrational trips in order to provide photographic or viewing opportunities for their 'pleasure' or so-called 'entertainment' - i was in a hurry with an arthritic Staffie...

Had a decent mooch down Dowles ystda, sheltered and very pleasant but very, very, quiet...... Wood Warblers, a couple of Tree Pipits, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs and Willow Warbler. Didn't pick up any Garden Warbler and i always seem to struggle for Redstart i don't know why (no suggestions pls;))...

Sorry Phil - just to clarify, the birder in question with regard to the Dunwich DW's was mentioned (or his blog was) on Lees' Tw@tter - i was'nt implying that Lee was TLing? I thought Lee had self-banned? Laurie:t:

Sorry mate - sometimes i'm a bit quick to react (letting myself down at the end;).....) I also included the link to that article in the post. The birder in question was mentioned (or his blog was) on Lee Evans' Tw@tter. He also posts on BF and i have been following his blog for a while. I must...

Not knowingly been beaten up mate - you're welcome to try if you feel strongly;) I do'nt see myself as having let myself down at the end of that post, i do'nt like tape-luring it's as simple as that. As for dogs, there should be a dangerous owners act. Responsible owners act, well, responsibly...

Hi Alex - In a wooded habitat such as Wyre Forest birds are, more often than not, picked up on either call or song before locating the individual visually. If the songs are not your strong point and it's only practice then i would'nt bother with the calls such as alarm/contact at present. No...

A bit difficult with regard to the dog walkers (i am one myself) as this area is at least one where a dog can be off the lead and not have to worry about cars. IMO the birds cope fine and get used to it. Photographers however are a difficult kettle of fish. The activities of togs can be...

Fri 11th April....... A 4.3 mile walk on a superb sunny, warm, Spring day. Quieter than expected i did'nt hear/see either Redstart or Tree Pipit, would deff have expected the latter. A mix of warblers (not Wood), helicopters, butterflies and flowers plus Dipper, Buzzard, Raven and Swallow...

Wed 10th April....... ButtonOak and the area around the Rocket Station. A bit overcast but mild and humid, quieter than i would have thought but plenty of Chiffchaffs/Blackcaps, a couple of Willow Warblers and what i thought was a Wood Warbler 'trill' but it was distant and brief and i was'nt...

Sean - you are indeed fortunate if you have seen a Ghost Orchid in the UK, but you do'nt need to be told that. I was fortunate enuff to be taken to a site in Co Durham to see 3 flowering Ladies Slipper over 35 years ago;) My mates do'nt 'study' as such they are just very, very, good at finding...

The Gos have been 'monitered' for years - have a chat with the former warden, John Robinson, who IIRC still lives in the old cottage. Quite how forthcoming he would be would be open to question. I knew him when he started @ Wyre (and before that at Caster Hanglands NNR) and he did'nt confide...

Some people have had bad experiences with putting out information, particularly with regard to breeding species during the season. I agree with the sharing of breeding records but sometimes it is better to give the info after breeding. Once info is given out you no longer know who is the...
