    Nice early walk along the railway track and then back along the brook tree pipit , 5 garden warbler, pied fly, redstart, cuckoo calling , LSW calling , 3 wood warbler , 4 mandarin, kingfisher, heron the best.

    morning visit to wyre 2 vocal dippers and 2 grey wagtails along with 5 species of tit along dowles brook ,dry mill lane ---coopers mill. 3 spotted flycatchers in dead tree above and to right of farm.

    early morning started at 0c rose to 10c 5 hours later dippers ,grey wagtails ,mandarins along the brook ,2 wood and garden warblers ,tree pipits ,at least 4 pied flycatchers,redstart singing, and my first cuckoo of the year in the surrounding area. 41 species seen . A cracking day.

    29 dec cold -4C reading in car, wyre quiet but for 3 great spotted woodpeckers drumming. Seems early but perhaps they were trying to keep warm . To all readers have a happy new year.
