OK, fair enough. I hate blah names for birds, it's almost disrespectful. It says a lot when you look at your list and your memory responds to the scientific name first, while the given name in your own language fades into the background :sleep:- Acanthis

Jim is French and has the benefit of using names that usually? directly reference the often latin-based scientific name. That way there's no need to come up with odd combinations like 'Chat-' this or 'Tit-' that or 'Ground-' this or 'Tit-' again etc. and I'm sure generic terms like 'warbler'...- Acanthis

Handy folk to have around. A Greek friend of mine recently confirmed that Rowan Atkinson's 'a gorilla called Gerald' is actually speaking Greek, but not something that Aristotle is likely to have said. British people of a certain age will know what I'm referring to😁- Acanthis
