    Agreed - the ones near me have now turned into adults - I was finding lots of cast nymphal skins (exuvia) i the woods a couple of weeks ago.

    Hi Hugh, I think this could be Klleidocerys resedae not a shield bug but a true bug ( one of the Lygaeidae ) they normally feed on birch or alder catkins, also known to feed on rhododendron - any of these in the garden or nearby ? HTH Keith

    Hi Stuart, I`m not sure about the Easterly spread, but I know they have had a very rapid Westerly spread (furthest being Bath I think) I found one in Hampshire last year & contacted the county recorder, he pretty much said they were now common in Hampshire & spreading fast!.
