Excellent Steve - I haven't seen either bug but hope I do. I remember seeing my first (and only) Emperor and felt the same way. :bounce: Jen
  2. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Ouch Ken! I'm pretty certain your bug is a squashbug, Coreus marginatus. They shine a nice gold in the sun. Jen :-)
  3. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

No doubt about it I'd say! I'm looking forward to seeing one. I have a mental picture of you sitting with camera outside someone's house - if they come out sit very still and they might think you're a gnome! http://www.rutkies.de/wanzen/Cyphostethus%20tristriatus%20-%20Stachelwanze%2002.html...
  4. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

    That is really pretty :-)))
  5. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Yep - they're all in my bedroom!! I share it with a gazillion Raphigaster nebulosa in the Winter. Don't mind apart from when they land on me and squirt me when I brush them off! :C

Oh you two are just so clever! :scribe: I am in the presence of greatness :brains: Jen :D

  8. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Oops - I should apologise for calling the aforementioned website 'not reliable'! :eek!: Jen
  9. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

I have found Holcostethus vernalis (only 4 pages on Google and very few pics) and am sure you are right - as usual :-))) http://www.insektenbox.de/wanzen/holcov.htm Thanks again Jen
  10. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Ha! Interestingly - this is on the same site http://www.gwydir.demon.co.uk/insects/shield.htm How annoying is finding your creature and realising they don't know what it is either!! Jen
  11. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Sorry Harry, I have now Sprung! I've done it to you again, and I thought you would just say, 'yes it is'. Soz! I based the ID on the pic at link below, which is probably not reliable. http://www.gwydir.demon.co.uk/insects/pentatomidae.htm Cheers Jen :flowers:
  12. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Nope, the one above - mine looks like the attached. Thanks Harry Jen :h?:
  13. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Steve, that's an interesting URL! I'm hoping the other buggy on that page is a Gorse cos it's exactly like the one in my file - they seem very variable and I'm easily confused :h?: Harry, I'm having a problem finding anything about Holcotethus vernalis. Nerine - see Guernsey is sexy too! Jen
  14. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Lol Harry. Nice one Alan, good to see something 'odd'. I'm sure these aren't but I'm pretty sure they haven't been on here before - maybe in different stages. One is a nymph and it's so hard to find pics of anything but adults on the www. Jen
  15. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

    My hero :flowers: J
  16. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

How's about this one then Harry? Taken in July and found at the bottom of my 'what' file. Jen :h?:
  17. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Oh Rats. Don't you just hate it when people don't read the threads! There it is on just about every page. I shall try harder next time ;) Jen :flowers:
  18. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Lol Harry - I've got an interesting one this time I think. This bug comes out at night and buzzes around my head while I photograph the moths. It's the noisiest I've ever heard too. Any idea? Jen
  19. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

    See Harry! You're a star - thanks. Jen :-)
  20. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Thanks for looking Harry, I wasn't too hopeful of them being UK species. No 1 was a fast little thing - I think this may be the same species (found in a different file - taken 21st July) just in case any one else can help. Cheers Jen
  21. Fuchsia

    Shieldbugs.

Hello Harry (and co), I have 2 un-named shields and wonder if you can have a look. I think one is a nymph and the other is just odd! Hopefully they are both Europe wide species. Both taken in August. Thanks again Jen :h?:
