    Wingate Quarry N.R. Quite a few Butterflies out at Wingate Quarry today.     Durham ,Butterflies, Moths and Dragonflies.

    A walk around Cowpen Bewley produced Large & Small Whites, Orange Tip, Speckled Wood, Small Tortoiseshell, Wall Brown and pair of mating Common Blues. Mother Shipton Moth near the centre. Also a couple of Large Red Damsells. (should have taken my Macro lens;))

    Cowpen Bewley Had a wonder around Cowpen Bewley yesterday. A few Butterflies about with Speckled Wood being the most numerous. Also a couple of Red Admiral & Peacocks, a few Whites and two Wall Brown. Dragonflies included Common & Migrant Hawker, Common Darter and a glimpse of a Brown Hawker...

    Garden butterfly numbers down the last few days but back up again today in the sunshine. 10+ Peacocks 6 Red Admiral only 1 Small Tortoiseshell and a couple of Large Whites flying about.

    Red Admiral and Small Tortoiseshell numbers have doubled today from 3 to 6 of each. Still loads of Peacocks, 4-5 Large Whites, 2-3 Small Whites and another new garden tick in the shape of a very tatty looking Wall Brown.

    A few butterflies in the garden today. 9+ Peacocks, 3 Red Admiral, 3 Small Tortoiseshell, 1 Small White, 2 Large Whites. Two highlights of the day was a Small Copper (first one I've seen for a couple of years and first for the garden) and a Gold-spot Moth on the fence:t:.

    Durham ,Butterflies, Moths and Dragonflies.

    I took them in a Butterfly House at the Norfolk Bird of Prey Centre last year o:D . The Biggest I've seen wild was a Poplar Hawkmoth in the garden in May and an Elephant Hawkmoth in Caerlaverock a couple of years ago.
