    A couple from last night, trapped in the garden: Still plenty underwings about, 5 garden carpets, gold spot, silver Y and a couple of micro's which escaped - one still somewhere in the kitchen. 1 Garden Carpet. 2 & 3 Flounced Rustic 4 & 5 Frosted Orange

    Couple from Clara Vale today. Also good numbers of peacock, speckled wood, various whites, few darters and couple of hawkers which never settled. Most butterflies starting to look well worn.

    Couple of shots from Low Barnes today. Still good numbers of butterflies about including, various whites, speckled wood, red admiral, peacock,meadow brown, also few darters and dragonflies/hawkers. Also unusual to see a yellow underwing flying during the day.

    Couple of Moths from the last day or so. Only about 1/2 dozen in the trap last night, maybe due to the weather. Mouse Moth, gold spot, spectacle and leser yellow underwing, image 4 showing how the spectacle got It's name.

    Sorry Martin, my mistake, I've been looking at something totaly different in the book, like black rustic or something. I thought I'd become wiser with age, seems to be the opposite way with me:eek!:. Anyway, thanks again - Dark Arches It is.

    Cheers Martin, I thought that about the first but wasn't sure. As far as the dark arches, this one just looked a lot blacker than the others.     Another trip over the moors with JBee on Wed, night. Not the Ideal conditions, yet again, but managed to salvage a few out of the 200 or so underwings. It was like entering an underwing hive when I opened the trap on Thursday morning, as soon as I disturbed the egg boxes they were all over...

    You must have understanding neighbours:flowers:, 160W will light the street up. That sounds like the same ID book I've got, but It dosn't have the Micro moths in, what do you use for those?.

    Hi Steve. Depending on the temperature I sometimes put them into containers and leave them in the fridge for a while then remove them, tap them out the container onto a white plate and hopefully they'll sit long enough to photograph them befor releasing them. Sometimes I just leave the trap...

    Moths from Tillery Wood A few handfuls, trapped last night at Tillery Wood. Lots of footman about. These are the ones that I I've managed to ID. Well! I think the're right. Common White Wave. Chequered Fruit Tree Tortrix. Riband Wave. Small Fan Footed Wave. Large Emerald.

    More from the garden last night. Not sure on the first two. 3 - brimstone moth, 4 - Different marked orange swift, 5 - swallow prominent.

    Moths trapped in the garden last night. Loads of dark arches barred straw, yellow underwings and small moths that I hav'nt ID'd yet. Some that I've managed to ID attached. Common rustic, marbled beauty, common wave, common white wave and orange swift.
