    Kempsey Thanks to STUART ANDREWS for pointing out the Short Eared Owls to me yesterday....they had left the roost and were in the field behind the roost when I returned from looking for the one that had earlier flown off. I saw a couple of fly overs but had to leave around 3.30 to get the bus...

    The Goosander could be the ones that were on Meercroft in Kings Norton as they have been absent the last few days.....although I did not look today......great spots for such a small pool....will have to pop in and have a look.

    Thanks Simon.........these old books are fascinating. I have a 2 vol set from the late 1800's when the only way for them to I.D. the birds was to shoot them...:eek!:...I do the same but with a Canon (digital). I got them from a Hay bookstore but they have been roughly re-bound and lost the title...

    No luck with the Redstarts again...a couple of hours around midday tuned up a few Goldfinches...Whitethroats ...Buzzard and some of the local Blackbirds,Tits etc. A couple of The Large (golden) Brown dragons kept an eye on me and at the pond in the adjacent field on the top of Wast Hill there...

    Had another look for the Little Egret on Sunday morning but as usual the light was behind...either too bright or too dull...I'm never satisfied. When i got there it was on this side of the Cole and 1/2 way to bridge but soon mover to the river side as theres no way to look without it seeing you...

    Live at Majors Green.....returned to get Egret in better light...got the light but not tbe Egret. Hung around till quite dark but no show. Keith another from the morning..........

    Thanks Matt for the report and excellent directions to the Egret......even I found it....lol Got it this morning around 10.15 just resting on the other side of the river.....but the sun was so bright it was hard to get a decent shot. Still I was over the moon to get my 1st Little Egret.. Keith

    Great pics Alex.......Showing all the feature well...just going to throw my kit in the bin...then climb in myself !! They did not show after you went and it started to drizzle......popped down to Twatling road after and nothing around from the car so went down into the wood and there were well...

    Very brief view of 4/5 Crossbill high in pines by pond on Cofton Hill at 8.15.Scared off by walkers. Can stay much longer so need to come again tomorrow. Keith.
