Apparently there's a Black Throated Thrush in Banchory today. Sadly, i'm in Stonehaven floored by the lurgy and not in Banchory at work. doh.

I've not posted a report for a while so thought i'd share what's been a very productive dog walking weekend. Saw a wee flock of Goldcrests yesterday in the woods at Inkbottle in Stonehaven. My wife and I took a few moments just to sit and watch them, as they hyperactively flew around the...

I'll try and get more info. They're kicking themselves they didn't get a photo but the person who saw it is an artist who specialises in quirky nature inspired art, particularly birds (and indeed designed my song thrush tattoo), so I'm sure they would have noticed details which would help...

right, i have no way of verifying this, but a reliable friend of mine says they had a Woodchat Shrike in their garden in Inverurie. They say they've exhausted their bird book and it could only have been this bird. I saw on birdguides that there was one spotted in Wales at the end of May, with...

The stork was still there this morning but flew off at around 9. It gained a fair bit of height before flying off over the Dee, I didn't see which direction it went sadly. It does have ring on it's leg but it was in shadow while it was on the lamp and I couldn't get a good look at it. I...

I had a great day at Fowlsheugh today, some good numbers on the cliffs and we counted 4 Puffin amongst the thousands of Fulmar, Kittiwake, Herring Gull, Guillemot and Razorbill. There was even a Peregrine out and about beyond the new shelter. A great way to spend a gloriously sunny sunday.

clearly waxwings are taunting me. I've not seen a single one! I keep meaning to take a walk round loch of leys but haven't made it yet. perhaps i'll head up there in the next couple of weeks. best i've had so far is a red kite drifting towards tesco and a skylark in cracking voice the...

I saw a Jay once out my back window in culter but never again. Seen a few in Crathes woods, near the pond and in Birse but fairly sporadically. I love them, beautiful colourful birds.

cool, i was very confused when i read that. where's loch of leys ken? don't think i've ever been there. can i also ask that if anyone hasn't done so already, can they contact their local councillor and urge them to reject the City Square proposal so that we can save Union Terrace Gardens...

had a cracking walk in culter today with about 5 or 6 buzzard round the fields and one in particular was closer than i've ever been to a wild buzzard. i managed to get a couple of good shots as well when it shot out of the trees being chased by crows, just next to the path we were walking on...
