Look forward to seeing you soon Dave. Spent six hours down Wyver today and it was quite productive. Four Common Buzzard soaring late afternoon along with singles of Sparrowhawk and Kestrel made up the raptor sightings for the day. Both Oyc's were on and off the island most of the afternoon and...

Back from our three weeks in Norfolk having seen a hat full of stonking seabirds and migrants....looks like i have missed a fair old number of good birds at Wyver and looking forward to going down there next week at some point.

Good job that we have record shots or i would have feared the worst for this record...knowing how things pan out sometimes.

If it is the Frampton Marsh Wryneck Phil, there is also a Little Stint reported there as well. Also a Pec Sand at Freiston Shore which is only 25 mins away from Frampton.

Spent a few hours at Wyver today and was so busy chatting to Neil i forgot to fill out the log book! Anyway...here is what i saw. Both Shelduck were still on the main pool as were both Oystercatchers on the island. Gadwall (4), Teal (23), Mallard (6) and a male and female Mandarin on the main...

That is a terrific days birding Dave. Great to still see at least one Bittern still present and some excellent overall counts. Shame about some of the missing birds and you could well have been looking at 60 species. It was good to meet Chris as well.

Another great capture Phil. I don't think you would have seen anything today Steph...the fog is thick as pea soup around here! I think Friday is slightly better but the Arctic weather is set for the weekend...might get some nice scenic shots though if it snows.

That's great to see for the first time. I have been birding for nearly thirty years now and seen plenty of Bitterns but the feeling always remains the same when you see this bird...it just has that aura about it and a thrill to see any time.

    Wyver Lane Nature Reserve (DWT)

Great capture Phil. The light was perfect wasn't it and was the main reason why i ventured out today...glad i did! Cheshire was my previous local patch for many years and used to trawl the likes of Frodsham, Rostherne Mere, Woolston Eyes and Neumanns flash etc. Great capture as well Steph. I...

Ahhh right. i should have done likewise. Good to meet you Phil. I was nicely surprised by the Waxwings and apart from a very brief view of some on King St. in Belper before Christmas (with no camera in tow!) i was pleased to have had least had the chance to grab a few shots. Pleased to hear...

That is always the way Dave...sods law isn't it mate and that is what usually happens to me. I did manage to see them for a few minutes before they flew off down the lane, just as i turned up. Decent views of the Bittern again and good to see the Oystercatcher so early in the month.
