    Had a chance to visit to the canal today. Fairly quiet though heard Chiffchaff, green and g.spot woodpecker around 4 grey wags at high peak around the shop area and 3 pairs of little grebe too.

    Nice vole Steph. Not been up for the canal for a long while. The last two times we went we got good views towards the derwent hotel end, its the area where the canal widens and has all the reeds and then narrows under a bridge.

    had a walk down the canal this afternoon/evening. At the start there were 2 female tufted ducks, but no sign of the male anywhere. As usual big numbers of mallards.
