Great garden birding! Pleased to read you've got Greenfinch back; we're still without any, just a very occasional one. Amazing when you think how many there used to be.

Yes!! As I was putting the feeders out about 07.15 this morning, there were Blackbirds, Robins, Song Thrush, Great tit and Dunnock tuning up. Won't be long, hang in there!

Cracking photo! Looks like he's been eating the blackberries. To my eyes, the berries look dried and useless, but I've seen them locally making a good meal out of them; there's clearly more food value than appears.

Yes, eb, it's house sparrows in our case this year. They've had a good breeding season, and don't seem to have moved off as they usually do; maybe it's due to the early harvest and resowing so there's not so much seed available in the fields. There's about 3 dozen; twice as many as usual, and...

I've not seen photos of juveniles before, so thanks for sharing them here. :t: Lovely birds.

Sorry your Turtle Dove hasn't shown this year, though there are still a few arriving, I think. Our local ones didn't show last year, so I doubt if they ever will again; the habitat is no longer right for various reasons. I count myself so lucky to have been able to watch and hear them for a few...

Sadly, probably the majority of the population have no idea about wildlife and its needs at all, and probably wouldn't care if they did know. I wonder if garden wildlife will ever be part of the National Curriculum?.......! Not!

In common with many others, no doubt, I'm green with envy!!! Are they near you all year round?

Beautiful bird! He's on to a good thing finding your food, so hopefully he was able to rear young in the summer, and will again next year. Would love to see one so close up!

Right place.. right time! Went to the sink and glanced out of the window.... to see the 54th species for the garden, a Grey Wagtail! Fabulous! It didn't stay long, but as they are on the river only about 150 yds away, maybe it will be back. Lovely splash of colour on a dull day, and if I'd been...

Did you have any sightings of the Turtle Doves at all this year? Sadly, our local ones didn't make it back:-C

Just wondering if Vicks has a Vaseline-like base, and if it would clog up on feathers if the birds brushed against it?

And they can dig tunnels, and sometimes, sprout wings, I reckon! Now and again, the security light comes on in the night, and there's a cat...... goodness knows how they get past my defences!

Great way to pass an hour! Hope you had a cuppa/glass to hand and a comfy seat. Maybe the Coaltit was making the most of a quiet feed, while the others were out of the way. Great photo.
