Very busy at the bird feeder today!

I was just thinking today it would be nice to see a male Brambling at this time of year rather than the usual female that's been turning up and lo and behold..... ;) Also lots of Siskins again and the some of the males are looking absolutely stunning. Will have to put the hide out I reckon.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Not had food to put out for a few weeks so was quite surprised that now I have put food out again to find the Brambling has actually been hanging around. Also a dozen or so Siskin.

Back again today. Woodpigeon or Collared Dove seeming to be the meal. Don't open the picture if you're having your tea. ;)

A monstrous female Sparrowhawk in the garden today. Took what looked like a Blackbird. Also two Buzzards did a flyover. Two Brambling still visiting (both female) along with the Siskins although I have now run out of SF Hearts..... again!!!!!!!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Indeed. Bingo Bongo! 3:-) Close to 10 Siskin today in amongst the Finch Fest. Hadn't seen any Brambling lately though so I figured they must have gone until I went out to top of the feeders. As all the birds had scattered there was nothing around so naturally quite a surprise as I approached...

Bramblings seem to have taken to the peanut feeders here. They're pretty good at it too.

4 Brambling, Siskin and the usual suspects so far today.

Great shots Mark. You too Crazyfingers. I've finally put some from my garden in my gallery. Nothing new turning up here, the same birds as all week. Not had any LTT Tits at all this winter I think though. :-C

That sounds like an amazing experience to have and right over your garden too! I get a similar thing here with skeins of Pink-footed Geese which can sometimes number in their 1000's as they fly over. Main difference being it is often in the daytime. Also at night I can hear the Whooper Swans...

Snows practically gone here now. Redwing seen this morning along with male Reed Bunting and 3-4 Brambling but been out for most of the day so no other sightings.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Well..... just had a pure Brambling flock drop in, I'd say maybe 10-12 birds. Stayed up in the trees and didn't come down to the food but then one of the neighbours came outside and flushed them. :C Still, a record number for the garden. Woohoo! I get Goldcrests in summer but never in winter...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Male Siskin in is first of the winter (that i've seen), on Niger seed mostly. So him, the Brambling (female btw) and the other 3 finch sp. makes for 5 all at the same time. If only I could get Redpoll here! :( Dave I was just having a little go at the garden birds in the snow, or what's left of...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Wow a Fox would be a nice thing to see in the garden! So far this morning since I got up at 9:30ish, amongst the pitched Blackbird and Woodpigeon battles, I've had two Reed Buntings, Brambling, Tree Sparrow, GSW, Jay and Song Thrush (hardly ever see any in the garden for some reason) amongst...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

I get mainly Greenfinches and Goldfinches here (no Redpolls) and they just decimate the sunflower hearts (no left over cases like using sunflower seeds). In fact they're so popular the GSW has got into the habit of hogging the seed feeder, preferring it over fat balls and peanuts although...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

A good 5cm or so covering here and I suspect the same is true for much of the NW. Brambling back again in but in typical fashion I've run out of Sunflower Hearts which is what everything clamours for although my ground food has got them in amongst other things so tried putting that in the...

Aldi have some good bird feeding stuff in store at the moment. I love their wreath shaped feeders! Bought the peanut one.

Welcome to the forum and the thread :t: You got some nice birds there. Been a while since my last Pied Waggy. Tree has now been stripped of berries although a lot ended up on the ground which the birds have been picking through for the best ones. Female Brambling back again today.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

50+ finches in the garden earlier and two GS woodies were fighting over the sunflower hearts of all things. Don't care for the peanuts or fatballs! Oh and a Mistle Thrush too. Some quick shots of the berry burglars.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Our Cotoneaster berries are being devoured at a rate of knots (pun intended :king: ) by good numbers of Redwing and Fieldfare. There'll be none left for the Waxwings!!!! (said hopefully ;)) Speaking of Kestrels this was taken in the hedgerow across the road from our house...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

My first Siskin and Bramblings of the winter here, Male and Female. Also great fun watching the Jackdaws fighting over the peanut and fatball feeder (and yes they can actually hold on to them!).
