Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Listening to a Chiffchaff in the garden this morning, the third one i've heard so far this year. We have a regular Magpie at the moment, he spends an awful lot of time on the feeder and then in the bird bath at the front of the house. The usual Blue Tits/Starlings/Robin/Sparrows and...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Great first post! :) Watching a Sparrowhawk in action is quite something isn't it! The perils of feeding the garden birds though, they make prime targets!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Lovely surprise this morning when I opened the curtains to see a Heron just flying up out of the garden, i'd clearly disturbed it. A first for me, i've seen them flying overhead before. Nobody around here has a pond so I can only assume it had stopped for a rest?!!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

There's been an increase in visits from Collared Doves, Woodpigeons, Goldfinch and Starlings this past week, good to see, I was beginning to wonder if the Blue & Great Tits had somehow scared everything off!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Larry you get quite an array of birds, I don't think i've had more than ten species in a day and that's a rare occasion :) Seeing the Goldfinches on the feeders is always a joy, unfortunately i've only had Siskins visit a couple of time and not for a few years now. Lovely, there is one that...

I had the usual birds early doors before I left for work, Blue Tits, Blackbirds, our Robin, Great Tits and a handful of Sparrows, the snow didn't put any of them off! Over the past couple of days I've spotted the first Wren and Dunnock in the garden this year. Thanks Dave! They've always been...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Happy to say my Swifts appeared back over the house yesterday, only 3 at the moment and later than ever but it's good to finally have them back. No sign of any young birds in the garden yet but there's plenty of activity from all the usual visitors. Great photos! We used to have a regular but...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

My garden's filled with House Sparrows at the moment, they actually line up on the fence waiting their turn on the feeder. Other than that there is just the regular visitors. The Redpoll that appeared a few weeks back never came back, at least not when I was around!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Opened the curtains this morning to find the Sparrowhawk on the lawn in the front garden right outside the windows - of course I startled it so it didn't hang around very long - but a great start to the day. Think i'll have to start peeking round the curtains before I open them in future! :t:

So a quick update - plenty of activity in and around the garden pretty much through the whole day (from what i've seen). Lots of Blackbirds and House Sparrows around. Great, Blue...
