Thats what I thought. The way Ouzels are going at the moment, a single juv is not going to help sustain a breeding population. Who knows, maybe the others have already dispersed though or were still in the area but unseen. They can be incredibly difficult to see. I have seen birds over towards...

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Danebower Ring Ouzels This is my personal appeal to all birders / photographers to keep their distance from any Ouzels at Danebower this year. These birds are in serious decline and have already been lost from many areas in the UK. In 2010 they were resident at Danebower but no breeding was...

Moore NR A first for me today - all 3 Woodpeckers. A lesser spot was in wood next to the car park @ 9:30 this morning. A vocal Green was over the car park later on and a Great spot at the feeding station. 3 or 4 Water Rails were squealing in the eastern reedbeds where 2 were seen scurrying...

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Himalaya, Are you on speed! Whats the rush? Slow down, maybe take in IMF then stop at a couple of places up the west wirral coast and finish with a spot of sea-watching along the north Wirral coast. That will be much more enjoyable than getting stressed, rushing around and missing everything...

Guys, Is Access to the old hide at IMF still via the old car park at Burton Point farm or is all access now via the new car-park. Also, what are the new hides like? I hear they are not geared up for birders, more like the keep the oap's warm type hides (no offence intended to our senior citizens!)

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

I must add to this argument the folly that is these reintroduction schemes that are all the rage at the moment. Ospreys nested in the english lake district and Wales of their own accord so why on earth did the RSPB and whoever else is involved reintroduce them at Rutland? Publicity, thats why...
