    There is a great photo on the walls of the Observatory at Caerlaverock where a panorama photo was taken of the Barnacle flock spread over the reserve. The estimate was then compared to an actual count - I can't remember the numbers but on an estimate of 10's of thousands the discrepancy was...

    There has been a long stayer at Thorne Moors on Hatfield lake - I've not seen a report recently but it often doesn't get reported because it is semi resident. Worth checking to see if that one is still around.
