    Essex Birding

All I can find on Twitter is that it was found by 2 birders (who I have not heard of), but would appear to be known as reliable by the other well known birders in that area, and it is on private MOD land unfortunately, (no further details given) so it is highly unlikely to be viewable. Just...

    Essex Birding

Indeed. Yet another somewhat vague, delayed, unlikely, and incredulous report from Essex!

    Essex Birding

Hopefully it is/was one as it was apparently seen & heard...

It would seem even this report may not be genuine. There's some confusion as to whether this relates to a Tweet from April!

The pager reports 2 Black-winged Stilts at Bowers now! They weren't there yesterday but I would give this report some credibility!!

    Essex Birding

It may come as no surprise to some that the Pager has just announced 'no sign of reported GRW at Fingringhoe'

You're very much mistaken with your accusations.....there are at least two others I can think of who also share my cynicism :king:

Instead of marsh, do we think garden? Cormorant probably 3:-)

    Essex Birding

You can't reason with stupid! 3:-) This Laurel & Hardy duo had a Bonaparte's in the same field as a Ring-billed Gull a few months ago you may recall. What is it with the NE of Essex?

This is an interesting Tweet! Seems a sensible & warranted approach given the circumstances. Well said EBWS, it's never easy handling these situations. "EBWS suggest that all reports of sightings from the Jaywick area are treated with caution until unusual sightings are verified and confirmed."

    Essex Birding

Steve, you want to get yourself away from Pitsea Tip and get up to the NE corner of the county, that's where all the rare gulls are! :king:

    Essex Birding

Oh, he's had a Crane past Jaywick too recently which nobody else managed to see and....I nearly forgot....over 30 LBBG which he confidently identified as of the fuscus race, the week before last. I'm no gull expert so someone may wish to clarify for me but I don't think the subspecies fuscus...

Indeed, and seen by the same guy who also had a Bonapartes past there last week......

    Essex Birding

Probably the usual suspect who's name appears earlier in the thread and spends a lot of time in the Braintree / Rayne area with a stunning record of finding untwitchable birds!:-O

I still firmly believe there is without doubt just the one bird - whether it is in Norfolk or elsewhere is less clear. Apparently there have been a few questions on Twitter about the 3:50pm sighting in Norfolk...keep looking up as maybe it has passed through Suffolk and is now somewhere in Essex!

    Essex Birding

I'm still firmly in the camp of there being just one bird & I believe it is still in Norfolk. Would love to be proved wrong though!

Hi Bitter_bugger, I have just sent you a PM but for everyone out there, particularly if you are new to the game, we can not possibly be expected to identify everything we see. It's fine to just let it go as unidentified if you get insufficient views, or to ask for assistance but do be cautious...

    Essex Birding

Yep, should have read that more closely. I'm still pleased that Andy Golfer saw a Red Kite! but this throws further fuel onto the fire of doubt regarding the 'other' observer as it appears he was, once again, the only person in Rayne to see a White-tailed Eagle. If he is to be believed then...

    Essex Birding

Yes, I am happy to court controversy here and state that I am agree entirely with Neil's post above as well as his earlier one. It's pleasing that Andygolfer says he saw the eagle over Rayne and I have no reason to doubt this however the other birder you mention (also based out of Rayne) has a...

For info - The 2 Serins have been around for most of this morning in Gunners Park near the car park.

    Essex Birding

After finding a Dartford Warbler on Monday the new EWT warden at Gunners Park found & photographed 2 Serins there today! I was lucky enough to get there this afternoon. The birds are extremely confiding and are favouring a small clump of weeds (mallow & fennel) approx 12ft away from the NE...

Hi Stewart, thanks for the info and directions. I visited Bradfield first today mid-morning. The drake Surf Scoter was showing throughout but was always distant today. A decent scope with a mag of at least x50 was required. Also present was a Red-throated Diver fishing off Wrabness. As...

    Essex Birding

Hi Stewart, I'm heading up for the Surf Scoter on Thursday and would be interested in stopping by Langham to try for the Tree Sparrows. I can see the waterworks on Google maps, is the game crop obvious when I get there and is it possible to park carefully at the entrance to the waterworks, or...

    Essex Birding

Hi Paul, unfortunately, as far as I am aware there have been no confirmed sightings or convincing photos of Twite on Wallasea - they remain firmly in the Departure Lounge of Disbelief 3:-) Also, it's worth mentioning that there are acres of pristine saltmarsh along the north bank of Wallasea so...
