Yeah I was quite surprised, I was watching goldcrests and it flew onto a nearby tree. I was struck at how small it was. Got a crappy shot for record purposes

Need to get back up to Norfolk, had a weekend in Arne bagged a firecrest and dartford warblers and a spoonbill amongst others. Weather in Essex has been pretty poor for bird photography so haven't been out much

No birding whatsoever over the break, rubbish weather. The day I tried to go the battery was flat on the car, due to me leaving the blackvue car cam on for a week. I will be going Rainham as soon as it gets colder to get better shots of the beardies though. Fancy a day out in Norfolk as well as...

I spent 12k on equipment at take it from me you still get crap shots. Field craft and luck/patience is the way to get closer. Oh and there's some bird sound apps you can get them to come to you. It's also about understanding your equipment and what works. Remember the longer your zoom the higher...

Nice one, yeah there will still be days you aren't happy with your shots, days you get the odd good one. It's half about luck and half practice. No wonder the pros go out and take thousands of shots in a day. Good luck see you soon

Rob, there's no magic answer to the settings on the camera, the aperture will give you different depth of field at different focal lengths and distances, around f8 will give you a good start as already said and the top end of the zoom might also cause softness as said, I also have and used to...
