Cheers Sid :t: More about being at the right place at the right time, with decent light. Lots of people get great results with point & shoot cameras, Paul's Kestrel's last week are a great example - again right place right time and good light.

:-O:-O I too wish i could have got the Barn Owl face on Sid - it came from right hand side of the hide and before we knew it was only 10 feet in front of us. It hung on the breeze for a fraction of a second - and was then off. By the time we realised what was happening and swung the camera round...

Started the day at Clara Vale, but tried the 'alternative' hide in the main reserve. Nothing out of the ordinary, but very close views of Jay, Bullfinch, LT Tits, Robin, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Chaffinches, Nuthatches & GS Woodpecker. Decided to head towards the brightest area of sky which was...

Thanks Mick, i'll go with Willow Tit then :t: Just for info there were at least 4 birds whilst i was there. I'm sure Joanne's pic on Gateshead Birders is the same bird as mine, both photos show how dark the birds are. What is interesting, the other pair i saw at Far Pasture were definitely lighter.

I don't know, but like you say the bird was dark. I thought the browns behind its neck were a lot darker than the willow tits i've seen and photographed at Thornley and Clara Vale. Thats why i asked the forum for help. Joanne has posted a similar picture on Gateshead Birders where its...
