Excellent idea and hopefully we might be able to arrange some volunteers to help. Anyone got any chest waders? It could be as well when we do find who the owners they would allow the lake to be managed properly to further encourage wildlife. An enforced ban on fishing wouldn't go amiss either...

Have you any idea who does own the lake as I had it on good authority that it is the council?

Steve, The pond at Testo's is council owned but the last that I heard there is no fishing club which has the rights to fish there as the council don't want anyone fishing there. I think Lakeside club has been dissolved as the new owner of Lakeside doesn't want anyone fishing the lakes. Most...

I saw this article on the BBC news and thought it worth a mention. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12105157 I have always been interested in the reasons why amphibians and fish fall from the sky but birds are a different matter - they are meant to be in the sky!! I will be following...

I am not surpised, it must have been very rewarding releasing the bird knowing if it had not fallen into capable hands it would probably be dead now. Well done to all concerned:t::t: I think it must be in contention for the story of 2010. Anyone think of any better? Brian

Garden feeders busy again and nice to see three bramblings make a return after being absent for a fews days. Local male sparrowhawk sat on the fence for a short while and interrupted feeding time. Anybody looking for a hangover cure? Brian

Fieldfare present in the garden most of today. It has a hell of an appetite for ASDA's cheapest apples!!! Put two new apples out this morning and they are both gone - poor bird must be starving. Good to see a bit of a thaw releasing a bit of water for the birds to drink. Brian

Better you than me, it would have taken me days to type that lot up with my typing skills:-O You forgot the pond in John Sullivan's back garden for water rail, little egret, bittern, sea eagle and many rarer species;):-O Also did you mention where to miss woodcock? It's harder to miss them...

New garden tick Feeders still busy today but no bramblings for a few days. Surprise this morning when I looked out of the window to see a fieldfare feeding in the cherry tree on apples. Despite running battles with the resident blackbirds it was still there after an hour. Brian

Andy Regardless which make of scope you buy or what price you pay I think the most important thing is to try a selection of scopes before you buy. Young Mr Kinghorn mentions Opticron and they have days at Washing Wildfowl Trust where you can try before you buy. When I purchased my current bins...

Good views of a little owl this evening on the path along from Lizard lane caravan park. Owl was sitting at the top of a bush next to the path so I got within 6 feet of it before I realised what it was. Bit quiet on here today does anyone have a bad head:-O:-O Or are you all still playing...

Rob, Excellent links mate. A couple of years ago I did find a greenfinch and collared dove in my garden which displayed signs of the disease prior to death. You can tell as they tend to hang around the food source, look totally out of sorts and you can get very close to them. I started a...

Rob You have done a great job there.
