    Had a Gypo goose at Lumley this evening - it later flew back to Houghton Gate pool, where i could just see it at 22:00. Not sure if Flats & HoGate birds are one & the same ? No luck with the Rosefinch ?

    after a morning appointment in Sunderland, i found myself at the coast at Roker. A nice selection of waders with a dozen or so Purple Sandpiper, a Sanderling, 20 odd Turnstone, 30 odd Ringed Plover & a similar no of Dunlin & Oik - all birds i havnt seen for several months.     30 Pinks west over Newbottle at dusk. quite a few species beginning to pipe up Martin - a fair selection vocal today:- Mistle Thrush, Coal, Blue, Great tits, Bullfinch, Wood Pigeon & Dunnock all singing, with Buzzards displaying yesterday. A single pair of Lapwing back on their small breeding...

    Why would he appreciate that ? - he doesnt appear to do much local Sunderland patch birding....does he ? :king: "in & around South Tyneside" seems to have covered reports from lots of places..... but not all of them have been as close as the adjoining area to the south. Cant see anyone else...

    Ive seen 1 in Roker Park during the summer - presumed it would have been one of a pair ? Might head through your way tomorrow for a few coastal year ticks... Twite & Buzzard today taking the number of species noted in City of Sunderland this year to a respectable 112.

    working at Fullwell / Roker today, we had 800 or so south up till 1pm - largest was a straggling group in 3 adjoining skeins of @360 birds. others today included a Woodcock, 5 Waxwing south, 1Brambling perched above us & audible & vis mig of Skylark, Mipit & Siskin etc
