My picture was rubbish, Adam, although these pictures show the difference well. I think its pretty obvious when you see them together.

I, like Malcolm, no longer post any information on "Birdforum": 1 because the almost ceaseless arguing put me off years ago and 2, because I dont like posting- sometimes sensitive- bird information/locations on an open forum. I occasionally read through the posts and find it a shame the...

Yes, the Kestrels had taken virtually every chick but- according to the warden- the Kestrels, Sparrowhawks, even Tawny Owls had always tried their luck there. The trouble now is, the grass has grown high around the colony, meaning the sand has begun to gather- covering most of the pebbles. In...

Pleased you enjoyed it Steve, but it could be one of the last. It has been an absolute disaster there this year- only 2 chicks from 80+ pair. Unless there is an overhaul of the site, which I doubt, I cannot see many returning in the future. Plus Trevor, the warden, has had enough of it all.:eek!:

What a fantastic find. I remember that picture in the 2006 Annual Report.:t: The best bird I ever had was a Corncrake-found after severe gales in 1992. The bloke next door said "come in here mara, a Pheasant has hit me greenhouse" it was a bloody Corncrake. It must have had internal injuries as...

On the subject of the Gull, Dougie. I once kept small bantams - Weasels never bothered them but my god the Stoat did.:eek!: Peregrines usually eat the neck first- not sure if even a female would attack a GBB though. You might find this interesting / or sick, especially the bottom pic.;) Hope...

No sign of the Bluethroat today according to the locals, Dougie.;) Watch out Dougie -I have you and Steve in mind for a "Birders Profile" article, so if you see me up your way- in the near future -you had better hide.;)
