112 was instigated in 1991 as the European emergency number, as each country had its own number and borders were coming down, it was thought a Europe wide number would be best. Since then other country's have adopted it. using a gsm mobile you can pretty much dial it from most places around...

I discounted the dwarf for a number of reasons, it is rarely found north of the humber, its only about 3/4 of an inch and it has distinct black dots around the wing edges. Rechecking the book has thrown up 2 more possibilities, the plain wave and the riband wave (plain f remutata variety)...

looks like a cream wave Scopula floslactata, but its getting a bit late in the year for them now, flight season is usually may to june, a little later in scotland. Try to take the pictures square on and with a aperture of f8 or above, f2.8 is far too shallow a DOF for identification (or macro)...

This is the best I can do, the light was failing and had to use high iso just to get the shot, as the bird flew off whatever it was, was dangling from it when it left. I thought that all captive bred birds had to be ringed, this one doesn't seem to be, maybe someone had just watched the film...

I think it's friendy because it might be an escapee, I first saw it about a year ago and was amazed how it sat there and posed right next to my car, when I got home and looked at the pictures, I noticed a thin leather looking strip on its foot, the strip wasn't there the next time I went. Next...
