Zeiss T*FL 10x42...how does it rate today
Fabulous glass, even by today's standards. The aforementioned contenders may best the venerable FLs with edge-to-edge clarity and color rendition, but the old Zeiss's are still among the brightest 42mm offerings out there. -
Rattling Zeiss Victory Harpia 95
I had an ATX 85 mm that rattled terribly and Sawrovski promptly fixed the issue under warranty, it wasn't 'normal.' -

Back from the ether... Anecdotal, but a friend messaged me to say that Leica has re-released the 65mm series televid. Will confirm (and consequently post) if anyone else cares. -

Yep, I wouldn't expect this optic to be deemed a winner by birding purists here, it's justifiably heavier, more complicated and more expensive. Frankly, I'd be shocked to see it embraced by those who would neither use it nor purchase it. I give Leica credit for this endeavor! -

Functions? Maybe not, but overall the design is convenient. For those of us who do occasionally hunt deer, elk or other game, but also enjoy birding on a daily basis the design is multi-faceted -- fantastic offering. -

Just saw a piece on John Kerry, aka U.S. 'Climate Czar' used his private jet last year at least 16 times for personal use. That's once every two weeks at this point in early August. I'll share a link on the climate hypocrite when I can....- litebeam

Do folks think the Ultravid HD+ 8x32 is on par with the Zeiss SF or Swaro EL 8x32s?
Leica's little 8X32HD+ are simply stunning; hard to imagine better glass in such a diminutive platform. They are tiny in comparison to other models. -
Advice on choice of ATX 85/95 vs Kowa 883 vs Harpia 85/95
Within the Swaro options themselves.... Like AJ, for me the ATX with the 85mm is superior. I've used the 95mm and 85mm side by side here at home for months. The 85mm has far more usable magnification as opposed to the all-around higher 'x' of the 95mm. It's obviously a bit more portable as...- litebeam

Leica APO Televid 77 - Focussing knob faulty
The 'free spinning' focus wheel is a common problem on NOS televid 77 and 62 scopes. It's not the slow focus, but rather the quick focus rear wheel. I've sent three bodies back for this problem over the last 15 years. If you obtain a scope with the problem take time to slowly free it up with... -

Yep. Great, bright binc. Had a couple of them over the years. One can expect a price break as dealers move them along. New products typically free dealers of the strict manufacturer price guidelines on the NOS. Wish that wife and I weren't such 8x32 Swarovision snobs. Love that glass! -

Welcome! Indeed, Illinois has it's wildlife and outdoor treasures. The Morton Arboretum near Glen Ellyn is a fave. Grew up near there...my dentist was in Skokie. :) -
