Hi, thanks for replying. The 5D3 price here in Norway is sadly much more than I need to pay to get the MKIV. It will set me back 4700 USD for a new 5DM3 and "only" 3000 USD for a use MKIV. That leaves the MKII as the only 5D option, and as you say AF is slow (or at least that is what I hear)... -

Right, I have sold my 60D and now I need another body. My options are 1. Used MK III (about 1300 USD) 2. Used 7D (about 1000-1100 USD, new for 1600 USD) 3. A used Mk IV (approx 3000 USD) I do not want to buy another body anytime soon, so whatever I decide, it needs to last. I shoot wildlife... -

Thanks Jaff. Yeah the sun is going away now. I actually live in northern Norway so we actually have two months without any sun at all. My impression from posts are that the 300 + tc actually is sharper than the 100-400 @ 400. I have been looking a lot at pixel-peeper.com and I am less impressed... -

Hi, I must confess I mostly lurk here and only post when I need help, which I desperately do now. I have a Canon 60D and the longest tele I have is a 100 mm 2.8 IS L, so I need more. The only two lenses I consider are the two mentioned in the title, so no 70-200 f2.8 + tc for me. So to the... -

Canon 100-400mm v Sigma 150-500mm
I think you made the best choice. I have had the 150-500 but it is quite soft, although I did get some good shots. Seems to be very light-hungry for sharp images. It is F 6.5 so no wonder, and it is huge and heavy! Good luck with the 100-400 OGW edit: typoes -

I havent thought about it like that before, thanks for that. This is indeed what I aim for eventually, but with the stock situation now with 7D (mostly out of stock) I may just get the 300 now. But thanks again for a very interesting thought... OGW -

I have this setup today, EOS 400D, 24 mm F2.8, 50mm 1.4, 100 mm F2.8 Macro L (all canon) and Sigma 150-500 F4.5-5.6 So, I need better iso capabilities (I live in Northern Norway, it is dark during winter) and IQ (both are the same thing, really). A bonus with upgrade is also better viewfinder...
