    8x30 Monarch M7+ eyerelief

Thanks. I will try them out 👍

    8x30 Monarch M7+ eyerelief

15.5mm is really quite short. I don't think they will work for me. I did read that the M7+ has slightly more eye relief than the M7.

    8x30 Monarch M7+ eyerelief

Hi, Is anyone using the Monarch M7+ 8x30 wearing eye glasses Do you ding the eye relief sufficient? Considering them for travel bins (nice and light and won't break the bank if lost or stolen) but the e/r is low. Thanks

    HR80 ED vs Kowa 823

This would also make you lower mags available to you. 17x fixed and 15-45x zoom. Low mag is great for better depth and also when viewing is hazy. The 17x on my MM4 is wonderful. Actually I am quoting figures for the MM60. Mag would be even lower on the MM4 50.

    HR80 ED vs Kowa 823

    Now that's a good idea. An MM4 50 or 60 for portability.

    HR80 ED vs Kowa 823

Yes. My SDL V2 is a very good sample. It was better than the v1 and V2 that I compared it to and it was just as good as the V4 I tried against it. Apart from fov being smaller but it's not much smaller.

    HR80 ED vs Kowa 823

I have SDLv2 which is better than v1 but I see no difference in view between V2 and V3 or v4. But V3 & V4 do have a bit more fov than V2.

    HR80 ED vs Kowa 823

Your choice of eyepieces sounds like a great set up to me. 27x is a good allrounder fixed mag. I used that ep on an MM4 and previously on an ES80ED. It's a nice wide bright view. And the zoom is good for distant stuff. How aboutj just upgrading to SDL V4?

Trinovid pre-HD 8x42 vs Ultravid BR 8x42 vs Ultravid HD 7x42

Brilliant. I thought you'd like them! Really glad you do and I reckon you'll enjoy them for a long time. I have a collection of 7x and Leica is my favourite.

    ATC 17-40x56 underwhelming

Hi Blackgrouse, I agree with you on 2 and 3 but my problem on 1 was not enough eye relief. With 20mm of it I expected to be able to use the full zoom range very comfortably but I could not. I need a little more e/r at higher mags. I can live with that on my MM4 which cost £400 secondhand but...

    ATC 17-40x56 underwhelming

There was something wrong with the armour. It had come unstuck from the body and rubbed against the focussed as it turned in the one direction.

    ATC 17-40x56 underwhelming

Hi all, I had a try of this scope today. I have to say I was really rather underwhelmed. Optically it was lovely to look through but I didn't want to buy it for three reasons. 1. I was surprised that although e/r is 20mm I still could not use the zoom comfortably over about 25xor so. No...

Trinovid pre-HD 8x42 vs Ultravid BR 8x42 vs Ultravid HD 7x42

But there will also be the 10x available for when 7 isn't enough. As a pair 7x and 10x - what a combo!

Trinovid pre-HD 8x42 vs Ultravid BR 8x42 vs Ultravid HD 7x42

I would go for the 7x. You already have a 10x so go to the other end of the spectrum and enjoy the differences between the two. I bet you'll love the extra depth of field. I own and have owned many different 7x and I have found none of them to have a tunnel-like view if the eyecups are adjusted...

    New Eyepiece - SDL4

I think sample variation plays a big part, possibly outweighing differences between versions. My V2 was distinctly better than the V3 I compared it with last year. Sample variation is the only reason I can think of to account for that. Having said that a new ED element is surely an improvement...

Brief comparison berween MHG VS EDG '8X42'

Great review! Thank you for it. And great photos I have 7x42 EDG and I agree with what you say. The EDG may not match the SF and NL but it is an older design. I really like it's comfort level that I can use all day long. I also enjoy it's relatively low brightness compared to Zeiss models...

    New midsized Razor UHDs

Hi Paul, I see globe effect in the opticron 7x36 and the Swarovski el sv 8x32. One without and one with field flatteners. Interested to know why in the opticron. Is it the field curvature? The edges could be focussed in so I think there was only field curvature not distortion.

    V4 is wider than V2 👍

    New Eyepiece - SDL4

Hi 4john, I've not seen any with my V2. Last year I tried my V2 against a V3 (both on my scope so no variables that way). My V2 was sharper than the V3. I put it down to sample variation. I'd rather have my sharp V2 with a touch less fov that a poorer view V3 with more fov. I didn't see any on...

    New midsized Razor UHDs

As they say, your mileage may vary! So don't let me put you off. Give them a try. I took am surprised that 19mm wasn't enough er for me. Is the globe effect only caused by field flatteners? The first time I saw it was in opticron bga classic 7x36s. They don't have field flatteners. I thought...

    New midsized Razor UHDs

Hi all, I briefly tried the Razor 8x32 uhd yesterday and was disappointed to find the view really falls off at the edges. The sweet spot being approx 50-60% of the fov. For my eyes and eyeglasses at least. I found the blurry edges strong enough to distract from the view. It may be that my...

    New Eyepiece - SDL4

In a very short comparison between my SDLv2 and a SDLv4 today, I could see no difference. At times I thought the v4 may have a touch more contrast but when I looked again it didn't 🤷🏼‍♀️

    New midsized Razor UHDs

Would you expect the 8x32 uhd razor to have edge to edge clarity with a 9* fov? Does it have field flatteners?
