Buffalo Springs (Samburu, Kenya) sparrow-like with doubts

Initially I had this as a parrot-billed sparrow, but now I am not sure. What's with the rufous eye, the weird cheek stripes and a distinctly non-convincing parrot bill?

    Masai Mara ID assistance, please.

Eastern Masai Mara (Kenya) on 13 November. Small copses in rocky 'kopje' terrain set in a small valley in surrounding savannah. When I first saw the bird I immediately thought - 'buzzard', from the size, robust shape and the 'necklace'. By a fellow-traveller suggested a female Montagu's harrier...

    Waxwings limited edition prints

I really enjoy your work. I can just feel the wind ruffling those feathers, with the odd bird bobbing to maintain its balance. Only a skilled artist can invoke such sensations.

Gracias Rafael. He maligns himself when he states that he is not an artist, just an illustrator.

    Church peregrine

Stunning use of light and shade, Ian. Having tried watercolours unsuccessfully I am green with envy at your mastery of the medium. Well done!!
