I found another shot with the birds in different attitudes. Main pic shows what was the leftmost bird (Quelea?) now at the top. A new bird on the far bottom right (extensive black on wing starting to show) Another Bishop starting to moult into adult plumage? The bird that was on the right...

    ID Please - Pemba, Mozambique

Any ideas on an ID for this fella? A friend took the picture in Pemba, Mozambique. Is it one of the Bishop species or maybe a weaver? The picture has been lightened slightly to bring out the plumage detail a bit better.

    Barents Sea Raptor ID please

I had two brief glimpses of this bird once it got out of the moonpool area. The upper parts were a dark chocolatey brown, with pale barred underparts, it looked long tailed, the flight seemed quite powerful, if anything it reminded me of a large, powerful Sparrowhawk. I think the orangey...

    Barents Sea Raptor ID please

Thanks John, for some reason I didn't think they got this far north. I'm guessing it's heading south from Svalbard which is pretty much directly north of our position.

    Barents Sea Raptor ID please

OK so I'm on a rig up in the Barents Sea at the top end of Norway. The rig crew find a raptor trapped in the moonpool area and manage to shoot some video. It's pretty ropey, as are the screen grabs from it, the bird was tearing around in a pretty small confined area until they managed to open...

Matt if you can remember the colour rings on the Godwit you can find info on the bird here; (looks like white/red on one leg and a metal ring on the other leg?) http://www.cr-birding.be/ or here http://www.cr-birding.org/ You'd also be helping the ringing project out by giving them some info...
