    Lark ID help

So practically is impossible to tell whether is the Mediterranean Short-toed Lark 'Alaudala rufescens' or the Turkestan 'Alaudala henei'. Only if it's winter visitor we can speculate is most likely the latter.. Is it officially accepted whether the 2 are considered different species and not...

    Lark ID help

Hi all, would like to hear some opinions, to help identifying this lark species. All i can tell now is that is a Lesser Short-toed Lark 'Calandrella rufescens' type. With the recent split of the rufescens group though it becomes really difficult and confusing for me, besides the fact i don't...

Swarovski ATX 95 vs Kowa Prominar TSN 883

Thank you all for your comments. I know that both options will be better than my current, but i will like to get the best of the two since i am going to spent so much money. Recently i had the chance to have a look through a Swaro ATX 85 or 80 and compare it to mine (ATS 80 HD). The ATX was...

Swarovski ATX 95 vs Kowa Prominar TSN 883

Of course the Swaro has the advantage of 70x compared to the 60x of Kowa. But in true world if the IQ degrades more on the Swaro from one point and after (let's say at 50x or 60x) then the Kowa will be better despite the less magnification. By the way, i didn't know about the existence of an...

Swarovski ATX 95 vs Kowa Prominar TSN 883

Hi all, i would like to ask your opinions regarding the mentioned scopes. At the moment i have the older ATS 80 HD (20-60x eyepiece). I am thinking of an upgrade. Optically, and without the extra magnification advantage of the Swaro with the 30-70x eyepiece, the Kowa with the 25-60x eyepiece...

price of the 600 f/4 IS II in Europe

What about T-dimension? The strange thing about them is that they have poor reviews on the net, but the same time they are sellers at e-bay with high positive feedback... Isn't that strange? Here is a link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-EF-600mm-F-4L-IS-II-USM-Lens-U3942-/380603591154 Please...

price of the 600 f/4 IS II in Europe

Hi all and thank you for your replies. I will not consider simplyelectronics because of the one bad experience i had (though it had a good end) and because of the many bad reviews i read about them. Also the fact that they don't have a base (store) in UK is quite suspect too. I will consider...

price of the 600 f/4 IS II in Europe

Thank you both for your replies. Steve, do you have any experiences from simplyelectronics? I know that they are not based in Uk but this doesn't matter to me so much, as i live in Greece anyway. John, you are very helpful! So you are telling me to move on (with the seller you reccomended) if...

price of the 600 f/4 IS II in Europe

Hi all and wish you Merry Christmas and a happy new year to come. I would like to ask about the price of the newer long telephoto lenses in Europe. More particularly about the 600 f/4L IS II. I 've seen the lowest price from simplyelectronics.net, all the others options are way more expensive...

    Help with ID raptor. Epiros

Hi Luis, yes it's a darkish Marsh Harrier for me too. I am not sure if it's a female, it could be a dark male too, but i think the only trustful id of the males/females is the iris color. I think males have yellow eyes while females have dark. Juveniles have dark eyes too i think. George

Lake Kerkini National Park - N. Greece

Hello again, Brian Stone my last comment #11 was for your report as you probably understood.. Lake Kerkini National Park - N. Greece

Hello, 'orniodesigns' i 've read your report, it was really nice. Most interesting record for me was the presense of 40 Red-breasted Geese, a species that is not annual at Kerkini and usually in smaller numbers. Apart from that, the footprints and the droppings you show in the pictures too...
