    Wall Brown, Rome, Italy.

Thanks for replies. If Wall can fly in February in Italy and based on habitat, I think I'm happy so. Although I have not seen the southern Speckled Wood, so it remains a possibility... Sadly I now only see Wall in Ireland now in August, and it takes effort and good fortune. Many thanks for...

    Wall Brown, Rome, Italy.

Last Tuesday, (March 8th) near the Colosseum in Rome I saw what I Id'd as Wall Brown, a species I am long familiar with here in Ireland, albeit seeing fewer and fewer of late. I seen it well and was quite sure it was Wall Brown, but seemed a bit early - maybe they do fly earlier in Italy? I...

Unknown disease/injury of Common Tern, Lithuania

Hi Milda, Mustelids can be a significant predator at terneries. We have had issues with them at Lady's Island Lake (see http://www.npws.ie/publications/archive/Daly_et_al_2012_Lady_island_lake_tern.pdf). This year we have sought assistance from IGPT (http://www.greypartridge.ie/) in terms of...

    Common Gulls with Blue Darvics

Me again looking for Gull ringing schemes. I cant find the scheme that uses Blue Darvics on Common Gulls. I have had two first winter birds so perhaps the scheme only started in 2012. Both start with '2' so they must be Irish/British schemes. Any ideas out there? Tony
