    UK gull ID

Location: Swindon, UK Sorry for rubbish photos but just after an ID on this gull please. Initial thoughts in the field were Great Black-backed but since looking at pics I've unconvinced myself! There's more contrast in underside of wings but I don't know if this is normal in GBBG or not? Looked...

    Mallorca 2022

Hi Thomas, A few years back we stayed in Santa Ponça and went to Sa Dragonera. Really easy to get to and not too far. I was too early in the year for Eleonora's but did have a couple of Balearic Warbler in a couple of places on the island, best views were down the end though. Also had Booted...

    Green Bee-eater query

Morning all, Quick question regarding the recent Green Bee-eater split (Merops orientalis/viridissimus/cyanophrys) I don't have any photos of the bird I saw in Oman back in 2014. Can't find much on their separate ranges but looks like it wouldn't be M viridissimus as this seems more...

Any dipper sightings Somerset U.K. ?

The last few years I've had them at Wick along the A420 (might be Gloucstershire though), although can't be far outside Somerset! The river is quite high and fast flowing at the moment though so haven't seen them this year. Nige

    Birds of UAE query

Thanks Swissboy. The first edition just doens't seem to have as many maps as I'd like I guess, but maybe I'm asking too much! I haven't seen inside the second edition yet, to see if it's much different. Will keep an eye out though. Thanks, Nige

Hi guys, I've got a family holiday booked to Dubai in October and was after a\some field guides. Looking at the Helm's Birds of the UAE this was published in 2011, so was just wondering if the data is still pretty accurate? Are there any others I should be looking at? I currently have the...

Morning all, Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone contributing to the thread the last few weeks. Got back from family hols at the weekend sadly :( Managed to squeeze in some birding time whilst on the island, originally thought I would like to achieve 50 species and 10 lifers...

    Mallorca 2019

Didn't expect any more trip ticks on our way to the airport but a stop off at Bellver Castle gave me a couple of Long-tailed Tit. Lots of warblers and Firecrest too, worth having a good look through if anyone's local to Palma. Booted Eagle just flown over too. Nige

    Mallorca 2019

I think this is the 4th day in a row I've stood on our balcony overlooking the neighbouring garden for half hour in the morning and seen a different set of birds. Love migration! The Pied Flycatcher and Redstart had disappeared but 2 new for the trip appeared, a single Spotted Flycatcher and a...
