    Moth for ID East Anglia

Finally some bits and pieces in the trap last night, but I'm struggling a bit to put a name to this one. Caught in a mid-Norfolk garden. At a guess I'd say Clouded Drab? Can provide more pictures if needed, Thanks in advance.

    Binocular Camera?

I tried a pair at the Birdfair in the UK at the end of last Summer - I think they were made by Sony. Whilst impressed, I could tell it was a digital image and it wasn't up to the quality of view through a decent pair of binoculars (unfortunately). We're not there yet!

    Spotter Scopes

Have you considered second hand scopes? There's a good market out there and you're likely to get a lot more for your money if you'll consider it.

    iScoping

I should probably add that these were all taken through an old Kowa tsn-3, with a 30x WA Eyepiece. And whilst browsing yesterday I did come across 2 commercially produced adapters - the 'Meopta Meopix' and the 'Orion Steadypix'. The former is seemingly not yet available but looks interesting -...

    iScoping

Can't find a more appropriate thread for this post, and would seem churlish to make a new one! Have just upgraded from an iPhone 3G to an iPhone 4 myself and whilst watching some Common Crossbills through my scope thought I'd give it a go - pleasantly surprising for the first photo taken with...

large bird of prey with white dots on wings

The balance of probability would suggest no, certainly. But it's worth noting for the original poster that there have been at least 2 different Golden Eagles in the mid-Wales area over the last two years. I can think of three or four records in the last few years in Wales, and it wouldn't...

large bird of prey with white dots on wings

No reason to rule out Golden Eagle based on location. If you're confident it's not a Buzzard or 'Kite, it's worth looking down that route. David Edit: No reason to rule out the species, but probably questionable provenance.

    Norfolk birding

Just in case it's not obvious (it should be), here's a map - the area marked red is the layby where it's recommended you park, the green line is the area to view from, looking South, or right as you walk from Morrisons, at the hedge marked yellow! Good luck!

    Raptor, central Spain

I suppose I could see that. Wasn't aware I'd ever seen one that wasn't cream/white morph so sort of brushed that notion aside before it became a notion. That's something for the books. Thanks very much!

    Raptor, central Spain

Evening folks, Can't remember what I had this down as and no books to hand, so this seemed the quickest way to get an ID. Somewhere in Extremadura if memory serves, in mid to late June. Thanks in advance!

    Mysterious bird

Owl thing. This doesn't seem real to me, but, I can't rule it out for some reason. If it is, what is it!? Thanks in advance.

    Unknown Warbler - Spain

Thanks again! I'm new to all of this foreign business. The Bustards seemed a shoe-in, but one appeared to have black legs, and they seemed to be larger than the 'pheasant-sized' suggestion from my Collins and no plumage detail was definitive, and with no idea on juveniles I couldn't say with...

    Unknown Warbler - Spain

Next up... Thank you very much, folks. Can you also confirm that this is a Little Bustard for me?

More pictures... Hope these help to clear it up.

    Unknown Warbler - Spain

Hello, this was in Spain in Castilla-y-Leon around the 22nd June. I don't have any idea how to seperate Subalpine/Spectacled based on this picture, and that's what I presume it is. Sadly the photos are the only clue I have, as it was a very brief encounter. The rest all leave the subject...

    Norfolk birding

Took my brother for a stroll down the Wensum just outside Fakenham yesterday and was pleased to stumble upon a Little Egret and a couple of Marsh Tits not for from the water mill, but was slightly perplexed by the male Smew found swimming downstream. Is there any chance this is a straggler or a...

Pied or White Wagtail, Norfolk UK

Thanks, it really is that simple!? I'd presumed there was more too it, perhaps wrongly... |8|| Edit: And thank you Tim, they were very obliging!

Pied or White Wagtail, Norfolk UK

At Titchwell yesterday, I presumed White but I haven't really the foggiest how to be certain. Thanks in advance!

    Little Gull? Mid-Wales.

Found this gull today at a coastal site not far from Aberystwyth. Distinctly smaller than the rest of the gulls - all Black-headed. Just want to confirm my I.D. as it's a new species for me. Thanks in advance.

    Warbler? Chiffchaff? (France and Switzerland)

I think the first bird is a Chiffchaff, and the second a Blackcap. David

    Phylloscopus sp. UK

Seen through binoculars today and got a much better idea of colour etc. - Clearly a Willow Warbler, again presuming it was the same bird. Thanks for your help folks. David
