Will the earthquake in Japan make Binocular supplies dwindle?

I meant to say "distasteful." I see nothing wrong with a discussion on an optics forum as long as it's not done in a distasteful tone.

Will the earthquake in Japan make Binocular supplies dwindle?

If disaster would happen in the mid east I'm positive the talking heads on the 24 hour news networks (and Wall Street money networks like Fox Business) would be talking about rising oil prices. So I see nothing wrong with a discussion on an optics forum as long as it's not tastefully. I...

    10x or 8x

I have an 8x and 10x. I see my 10x as more a specialty hawk watching bin or long distance/grass lands bin. My 8x are my all around bin. If I could only have one - 8x. If I ever get an alpha it will be 8x for sure.

    William Optics Binos

My brother is looking for a new pair of binoculars. He found some William Optics 7X50 binos. I've never heard of William Optics before. Do they make decent binos or cheap ones? What's the quality of their products.

Digital Binoculars; Just a matter of time

A digital that would let me go from 7x to 20x with image stabilization, that would be cool.

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

I know this is not ED glass but - how are the Vortex Fury 6.5x32 Binoculars too? Are the 6.5 Vortex Fury's image sharper than my 8x Monarchs? The $250 price range of the Fury is attractive.

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

How's the view of the Leupold Golden Ring 8x32 HD Binocular compared to the Zen-Ray's and my 8x Monarch?

    two power levels for bins

Going from 7x to 12x you would go from nice steady view to shaky view. I've had half the mind to carry my three binoculars around my neck. lol. But the weight of my two 10x's and my one 8x would be like carrying a brick around my neck. When I am driving to one of the state parks I do load...

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

Will I get more eye relief with the Zen 7x36 compared to my Zen 10x's? I'm tempted with the Zen 7x's because they have ED glass. But I have to have a bigger field of view than I get with my 8x Monarchs. When I look thru my Monarchs it's easy on my eyes (I wear glasses), like I'm looking...

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

It's a big lake but not too big. I can stand on the shore with my 8x's and get a great view of the boats. Of course if I want to spy on the boats I get out the spotting scope.

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

I was talking with my brother and I came up with what I really want - a wide field bino that would be used at a big lake at a local state park. They would be my "lake" binoculars to look out over the lake. I love looking at the lake with my Nikon 8x's. If only I had them in ED glass. I...

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

Hmm, now I have to find the difference between AFOV and FOV. What I know is I like my 10x Zens and ED glass. I want to upgrade my Monarchs with ED glass. Plus, I love the really wide field of views. Looking out over a lake with a wide field of view is nice. I don't know the difference...

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

I also want a field of view larger than 330. I was reading Holger Merlitz page on Collected Wisdom on buying binoculars and he says wide angle is the way to go. I agree. I love looking at wide field of views with my 8x Monarchs, something I can't really do with my 10x Zens. Merlitz says 60...

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

I may go after the Vortex Viper 8x42 Binocular because of the large eye relief. When I hold my Monarch 8x42 away from me and look at the exit pupil I see large exit pupils. I think that's what I want - those large exit pupils/eye relief. My Zen's 10's have a much smaller exit pupil. I...

I'm not kidding nobody - I want lots of binoculars. lol.

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

What I really wish is to take the glass in my Zen 10's and put them in the my Monarch 8's. I have to put the oculars too close on the Zens to fit my eyes. I've read those Monarchs have been a top seller for many years and I can see why - the 8x is light, great eye relief, decent image...

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

Or, how cheap can I get a pair of 8.5x42 Swarovski's? Do new pairs ever get below $1,000?

Looking for 8x New ED Glass Bino

My first pair of good binos was Nikon Monarchs 8x42's. I love these binoculars because of the great field of view and great eye relief. They are easy on my eyes and eyeglasses. My second nice pair is Zed-Ed's 10x43. I love the sharp image they produce but - they don't have the eye relieve...

Buying Chinese products (binoculars) yes or no

There's a Hawke Frontier ED 8x43 discussion on the "other" forum. Some one posted picks of the case. It looks very similar to the case that came with my Zen-Ray's. It's obvious to me the case came from the same factory. I saw a Promaster at the mall a few months ago. Focus knob cap looks...

    Digital Binoculars

I read the article a few weeks ago. I would love to have a high power set of digital binos. Something that is steady and can let me zoom in on jets up in the sky. That would be cool! Under $400.00 would be nice. I want to zoom in so much I want to see the faces looking out thru the...

    Good Low Cost Compact Bino?

My binos are the Nikon Monarch 8x and Zen-Ray 10x. Both very good. However, I'm finding when I walk on trails at parks that light is best. I like my pocket digital camera because it's thin and light. Now I want a light bino. Nothing expensive. Something in the 6 to 7 power, for day time...

    Why no Zen-Ray's on E-Bay?

Every so often I punch in Zen-Ray binos in ebay and get nothing. If they are so hot (I do have Zen 10's) then why aren't they on e-bay now? Just wondering.

    The stongest Talons?

I recently got Hawks in Flight by Pete Dunne, David Sibley, and Clay Sutton. I know some of you said the Bald Eagle is a coward like bird. I read this in the book in the chapter on eagles - With the loss of California’s wild condors, the Bald and Golden eagles are the larges birds of prey in...

Only one bin for the rest of your life

If I had to pick betwen my 10x zen ed's, 10x Pentax, or 8x Monarchs - I would pick the 8x because of field of view and steady image.
