    Help Wanted :)

Started off bird photography with a similar lens many years ago, with such a lens you will generally need the subject to be fairly close to get much detail. I moved on to initially using a Sigma 50-500 which allowed better detail to be had and meant I also did not have to get as close. If you...

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

I would not get to hung up about the difference in MP between the two cameras as I have very prints from the R3 and that has less MP than either two cameras. If you any more familiar with the R7 it may be best to stick with it rather than having to get use to another camera. Although the R5...

R8 or R7 for grid photography

The R8 is a great camera think of it as a R6 MK2 but with a few less bells and whistles but has the same improved AF as per the R6 mk2. Not sure if the R8 takes a battery grip but you can not get one for the R7. The 600/800 f11 have improved edge to edge focus points with the R6 mk2 so I would...

    Budget Canon lens

I use a G1 Tamron 150-600 lens which Ok not the quickest to focus does produce some good results you should be able to pick up a decent second hand copy. Other wise the original Sigma Bigma 50-500 lens when I owned one although heavy and again not very fast in focusing in fact I could manual...

Canon R3 or Canon R5 for bird photography?

Would depend if you have the need for the 30 FPS that the R3 offers, some reviews state the focusing is great and very quick on the R3 and is held very well through all 30 frames with maybe just one or two that are slightly off. But for cropping I do wonder if the R5 wins due to the higher mega...

    Suggestions for APS-C long zoom?

Not sure if you could stretch to it but the Sigma 100 - 400 maybe of interest. If you can find a second hand model it should be well within reach of your budget. Tim.

Help! Brand new birder with a Rebel SLR1

Hi, I would say if you are on a tight budget try and pick up a zoom lens that goes to at least 300mm although if you can stretch your budget further and get a lens that goes to 400mm such as the 400 f5.6. I would also look at Sigma or Tamron as they tend to be cheaper than native Canon glass. I...

    Is the Canon R6 a bird photographer's camera ?

Not sure how true in a real life setting but have heard that the R6 maybe better for cropping than the R5. Tim

    DSLR's Are Dead

I think the main change will be the people who do not have the large 500/600 f4's but if you have only a 100 - 400 or similar you might be tempted by the 200 - 500 Canon or 600/800 f11 or if you wanted to go down the Sony route their 150 - 600. Tim

    DSLR's Are Dead

I think you are right the future is definitely mirror less no matter what system you follow. The biggest decision I think people will have is do you go for a full clear out or just go for a new body and buy a converter for your existing lenses. Also with the proposed R7 crop sensor and maybe...

Which Canon body for a 100-400 mkII?

If you wish to go mirror less the Sony system is worth looking at and their 200-600 lens. With Canon I have not seen how the RP works with the 100 - 500 but it's a solid lens although you may not fancy the f7.1 at the top end but looks like a solid lens. Tim.
