    Canon converters

Hi Marcus, Sorry if this is a duplicate post but had internet problem earlier :-) I have tried the Mk2, 1.4x and 2x, and the Mk3, 1.4x and 2x. I have tried all the converters with a number of lenses and bodies. Lenses were EF70-200f4, EF300f4LIS, EF300f2.8LIS and EF500f4LIS. Bodies used were...

    1 d Mark 4 v Mark 3

I still use a Mk3 as well as a Mk4. The extra pixels and higher ISO ability of the Mk4 is great, but the Mk3 also produces stunning images.

The Grey Heron can it be called a Bird Of Prey?

Surely the grey heron is in a class of its own, the self propelled dustbin class;);) I have seen them have a go at eating most things, especially during the hard winters of late. They sure are survivors. Over the last few months I have seen them eating startlings, blue and great tits, mice, a...

    Sparrowhawk or Peregrine....

Hi Himalaya, I have seen goshawks taking pigeon and dove, and a few months ago a crow decided to mob a female, big mistake. It was on the ground being plucked in around 30 secs. Also saw 2 gos having a go at a female peregrine earlier this year, but thier nests were near each others. Red Kites...

    Sparrowhawk or Peregrine....

Himalaya, twice I have seen a male sprawk have a go at a magpie, one magpie left with a bald patch on the back of its neck only to be taken by a female the following day. The second "battle" started in my garden with the magpie escaping a few times only to be caught again. I did not see how it...

    Sparrowhawk or Peregrine....

Hi Stephen, "Rambo" as he/she is nicknamed took the mallard off the scrapes at WWT Llanelli when the water was frozen earlier this year. The greylag was taken in flight, from a group of 11 flying over, and landed on a small island still with buzzard attached. Whilst eating the greylag a BHG came...

    Sparrowhawk or Peregrine....

This buzzard took the teal in flight after a peregrine had flown over and flighted all the ducks. Buzzards tend to move thier kill to a quiet spot for eating, if they can lift it. Sprawks also take ducks, but not as often as other BOP's. And Himalaya, it was me who posted the shot of the female...

    Sparrowhawk or Peregrine....

Sprawk or peregrine possibly, but dont rule out a buzzard! I see buzzards taking all manner of ducks, from drake mallards to teal if they are hungry enough.

    Skomer in July

You should still be OK for puffins next week. Also been some great views of the SEO's and little owls over the last few weeks. Look up onto the cliffs to the left of the landing jetty as you approach the island, a pair of peregrines with a fledgling were hunting there 2 wks ago. Have a look on...

Marsh or Willow? Feeder, Cheshire, UK

Impossible to say without a better view of the beak, the white triangle on the willow should be easy to see..... Looking at the bird, I would go with willow though, and I see them every day at my feeders.

    Magpies kill a Sparrowhawk

It must have been an immature or male sprawk, a fully grown female can sort out a magpie in seconds, as I have witnessed many times. And as for mobbing by crows, I saw a C.Crow try to mob a female goshawk a few weeks ago, poor crow..........

Anyone using the Swaro Universal Adapter?

Hi Steve, I use the 800mm adaptor on my ATS80HD and it is great, with the crop factor of my 50D it gives 1228mm@f10. The live view zoom is also a bonus on the 50D compared to the other bodies I use. Pics dotted throughout my site:- www.flickr.com/photos/mosesdavies
