    Orion 8-24mm Pro Lanthanum Zoom

hmmm, well the specs say 20mm Eye Relief, 40-60 FOV which isn't wide angle but not out of line. Plus it's parfocal, ED Lanthanum glass and about $100 bucks less than the Baader. It's piqued my interest that's for sure.

    Orion 8-24mm Pro Lanthanum Zoom

Looks like it came out in 2018. Has anyone tried one of these? https://www.telescope.com/Orion_8-24mm_Pro_Lanthanum_Zoom_Eyepiece/p/130974.uts

Cool. Another question. Are you using the factory plastic bushing in the scope? I currently have the WO Optics Zoom II and in order for it to focus I replaced the factory PENTAX plastic bushing which allowed the EP to drop into the scope further. Would this be a solution without having to modify...

Howdy, So how is the image? Do you think one could machine or grind off the threaded lip of the locking ring?

pf65ed question for Snyd and others

Here you go. http://homepage.mac.com/perryschneider/PhotoAlbum13.html Ya, the eye releif is great. That's the problem I had with the Pentax XF zoom. It's why I never bought one. The WO specs are accurate I would say. I have an overhanging brow and a deep set eye and high cheek bone and the WO...

    If you were me.

For a one eyepiece/all around setup there is no question- William Optics Zoom II, it gives 17-52x, bright, long eye relief, large FOV, only weighs 10 ozs. I have had the XF 8.5mm, the XW 14mm, and WO Zoom at the same time and compared all three on my PF 65 EDA II. I have also compared the WO...

pf65ed question for Snyd and others

WO Zoom is better than the XF Zoom, no doubt... Eyepieces make a HUGE difference on a scope and the 65 EDA II that I have resolves excellent detail above 35X. It's all in the eyepiece. The WO Zoom at 52x resolves more detail than the fixed XF 8.5mm which is better than the XF Zoom. Here is...

My PF 65 EDA II with the WO Zoom II at 52x is excellent.

John, Here is the one you need. I think you should be able order them direct. If not let me know and I'll help you out. Perry http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/(2soq1q55b2qjgovaiw1xxdfm)/ProductDetails.aspx?SKU=42417 EDIT: I just checked the website again and they say they ship Europe and...

Orion Stratus 8mm or Vixen 7mm EPs with PF65AII

You will like it. I was using mine just this morning watching some neighborhood birds. Some Swallows, Junkos, and Redpoles. It's a nice zoom on the little Pentax.

Orion Stratus 8mm or Vixen 7mm EPs with PF65AII

vkalia, did you get your WO zoom yet? If you haven't already seen this, here are pics of the scope mod with the new ring. http://homepage.mac.com/perryschneider/PhotoAlbum13.html Oh, and under the right conditions I can DEFINITELY see more detail at higher magnifications with the zoom at 52X...

PF65EDAII - Is anyone getting great views at plus 35x??

Bummer on the bad scope. Mine is superb. I have used the Pentax XW14, XF 8.5 and the WO Zoom II.

PF65EDAII - Is anyone getting great views at plus 35x??

I haven't been around for a while either but I have the WO Zoom II on my 65 EDAII and it resolves fantastic detail at 7.5mm 52x.

WO Zoom EP & PF-80EDA Compatibility.

Well, from that picture it looks exactly like my PF65. You can see the black plastic ring inside of the compression ring. It just pops out. You could call Joe Virgil at Pentax and ask him if they are the same. 800-877-0155 ext 1245 [email protected] It only takes about 5 seconds to swap...

WO Zoom EP & PF-80EDA Compatibility.

Here's is the solution. !I've done it on my PF 65. Costs 50 cents and takes 5 minutes. No need to file anything on the scope or eyepiece. http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=102217

Anyone try an XW 7mm on PF 65?

Thanks for the replies. I have since sold my XW 14 and XF 8.5 and went to the WO Zoom II which is 22.5-7.5.

Pentax PF-65ED and Pentax PF-65ED II

The three hole are so you can mount it at different positions with heavier or lighter eyepieces so the scope will balance nicely on the tripod. The holes double as holes for the pin depending on how you mount it. A 13 oz XW will be much different than a 5oz XF for example.

WO 22.5-7.5mm Zoom II on PF65 EDA II

Nice write up eitanaltman. I concur. The PF65 and WO zoom is a nice combo. My EDA II and this zoom set me back about $725.00. 1000 to 1500 less than a big 3 65mm scope. That's a HUGE price difference for comparable optics for most people in most situations. With the ease of turning the zoom one...

Pentax scope compression ring mod pics

Here is a mod that allows your eyepiece to drop in about another 1/8th of and inch or so and allows eyepieces like the WO Zoom II to reach full focus. http://homepage.mac.com/perryschneider/PhotoAlbum13.html

Pentax PF-65ED and Pentax PF-65ED II

I haven't seen the PF65 ED II or ED A II anywhere for cheaper than the first PF65's. I have a PF65 ED-A II and it is definitely made in Japan. It says it right on the scope. Here is what PENTAX says about the difference between the I and II: PENTAX PF-65ED II/PF-65EDA II FACT SHEET High image...

WO 22.5-7.5mm Zoom II on PF65 EDA II

That orange one looks like it. I just measured the one I have. All dimensions are the same. It's a softer rubber as opposed to the harder plastic white/clear ones. Those black ones are too thick. I saw them at the store. Perry
