    Just bought a k200d

Excellent choice of camera. The 55-300mm lens is also very good, but I am sure the Tamron will do you very well for now. The majority of photos in my gallery were taken with the K200D/55-300 combination, should you wish to have a look. Enjoy your new purchase (and that secret pleasure of not...

Old non AF lenses on K200

I have done this with mine, and it does seem to work. I have an old 50mm F1.7 from my ancient ME Super, and it works well. I think you can also set it to auto, and then it will use what ever aperture you set manually, but you might want to check that as it is a while since I have tried it...

Some great shots here Steve. There are some in my gallery taken while I was down south in HMS Clyde - not quite so mighty a warship as York, but a useful platform for a birder nonetheless! Richard

    Redwing

A flock of Redwings has been systematically stripping the berries from a pyracantha in the garden over the last couple of days. I got this shot by putting my camera on a tripod in the garden with a remote release attached. It was a first time experiment, but I am pleased with the results...

    Frosty heron again

Having taken one shot of this super heron earlier this week I popped back today with a longer lens, and he was very obliging. He started on the gate, before flying off to one of the fishermen's pitches. I found out later that he is being fed by a kindly thinking local - not sure if this is a...

They do look pretty big, but do they really count as whoppers? ;-) Seriously, 3 great shots as usual! Cheers, richard

    Frosty heron

This was taken this morning at Filham Lake near Ivybridge. The heron was sitting on a gate in the fence around the lake, seemingly oblivious of all the dog walkers who were taking an interest in him. This shot was taken with a 55mm lens as I had left my longer one at home (much to my regret)...

    Devon Birding

Four female goosanders on the river Erme between Keaton Bridge and Cleeve. May be the same as the ones on the Erme by Ivybridge playing fields at the weekend, although that group was 3 females and one male. Richard
