Best place for two day stopover-early August USA?

Hi all I have a chance to stop on a trip for a couple of days near a main hub airport in early August in mainland USA. Renting a car and driving for a bit are no issue. I did the same near Houston a couple of years ago and loved it as well as seeing lots of cool birds and alligators. Does...

    Upcoming Houston Trip

Hi all I have nearly 2 days in the Houston area on Fri 20th and Sat 21st July on a stop over from the UK to family near Seattle. I lived north of Seattle for a few years so have seen around 300 US birds but limited mostly to western WA with a few scattered other places but never anywhere near...

    Wallcreeper

Hi Mike Thanks very much for the info and the PM. We are most interested in seeing the alpine birds you mention- we have not seen many true alpine ones. So snow and citril finch, wallcreeper, lammegiser, alpine chough, alpine accentor and any others I may be forgetting. Also mainland...

Dear all Does anyone know if there are any wintering wallcreepers around again this year in easy to reach locations? I have a chance to go to the mainland from the UK during mid Feb and would love to have the chance to see one. Probably would drive from UK so somewhere within a few hours...

    Weekend trip to Munich

Thought I'd post my (limited) sightings from an excellent long weekend trip to Munich last week. It was a sightseeing getaway rather than a birding trip but just in case anyone has some limited time the city, also have a couple of questions people may be able to answer. I really enjoyed the...

    Backwater Birding - Seaton, Devon

Hi all, Does anyone have details of the marsh harrier from last year that I believe James M's parents saw fly in off the sea? I need the date for the report as I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!

    Milan Birds?

Hi, just got back from a great time in Milan. Loved the sights and food and managed to see a few birds too. Saw about 15 species in total- the highlights for this relatively new birder were hooded crow, Italian sparrow and black redstart- great views in the Parco Sempione

    Backwater Birding - Seaton, Devon

Hi all, happy New Year! I am trying to collate records for last year’s bird report and would like to check if there were any verified, on patch records of these species (in case I missed something after I moved or because I’m a muppet): WF goose (or better), garganey, LT duck, mandarin, ruddy...

    Washington State Checklist

Hi Mal, First of all what a great website! I lived in Wa State for 3 years and you can find a relatively up to date checklist done by WOS at http://www.wos.org/WAlist01.htm Though it is still a bit out of date now. With a real quick glance through, I see that Whooper Swan is not on yours- I...

    Milan Birds?

Hi everyone, I am going to Milan in a couple of weeks for a weekend and wonder if anyone knows of any good bird spots in the city. It is very unlikely that I will have time to get outside the city due to the short time I will be there but it would be cool to see some birds while I am there. I...

Barcelona Feb 12-15 2009 This is a short report of what was more a Valentine’s Day trip than a birding trip but it may be useful for someone who only has a short time in this great city. • Monk Parakeets- many seen in many different places, especially in the palms that line the wider streets...

Hi, I have just moved to Keynsham and work in Radstock. I have never seen a tree sparrow and would love to see some. I can see that there is a sight not too far from Radstock/Wells that they are seen at and was hoping someone could PM me with details-at the moment I only have a village name...

Hi, I have just moved to Keynsham between Bristol and Bath. I was hoping to see tree sparrows, corn buntings, dippers, jack snipe, woodlarks, lesser spotted woodpecker and grey partridge.
