    Cambodian Fruit Bat ID

Just a thought but we were on a birding trip to Cambodia earlier this year and saw, from memory, very similar bats in Siem Reap which our Cambodian guide said were Lyle's Flying Fox Pteropus lylei. Apparently they do well in urban areas. Regards Grahame

    Chipmunk id

The following Chipmunk image was taken at Whisby Nature Reserve just outside Lincoln last week, but can anyone help pin it down to species? I've not done much reading but a quick search on Wiki suggests that there are 25 spp, with almost all of them found in N America. It was nowhere near any...

    Terrapin from Lincolnshire

Many thanks for your replies; much appreciated. It's good to get a correct id on this beast. Exotic terrapin id is not my strong point! Cheers Grahame

    Terrapin from Lincolnshire

Can anyone please offer an opinion on this terrapin spp photographed at Whisby Nature Reserve (just outside Lincoln) earlier this month. My best guess would be a North American Yellow-bellied Slider (common in the pet trade?), but it would be good to get a second opinion. Cheers Grahame

    Grand Cayman Island unknowns

Okay, I agree Yellow Warbler. Besides you'll see far more Yellow Warblers (of any race/form) in a typical year than I do! Regards Pixie

    Grand Cayman Island unknowns

Those forms of Yellow Warbler that lack rufous streaks on the underparts are from what I can gather quite dull (grey/olive above and buffy/yellow/white below). The warbler in the photo looks very bright yellow underneath and shows the vague olive streaking on the flanks which would indicate...

    Grand Cayman Island unknowns

Hi Maunster Would agree with the id on all your pics other than the first one which I would have said is Thick-billed Vireo. The Gray Catbird has obviously lost its tail! Nice photos by the way. Regards Pixie

    dainty damselfly in kent, 2011

Hi Larry I think JCL sums it up nicely; prepare to search hard. After over 3 hours of searching the grassland up to 4m around the second pool, I widened my search to at least 20m particularly on the east side and quickly connected with the female which features in Pauls video. Dave Bradnam's...

Hi Larry Paul Hopkins video is from Sunday 19th June (not the 17th). There were eight of us searching and after 4 hours I found this female Dainty Damselfly sheltering in the vegetation north east of the northern end of the second pool. As you can see from the video the weather was somewhat...

    Cygnet deaths - likely cause

I work on Nature Reserve where we had had a similar problem for the last 2 years. Generally speaking adult Swans are apt at protecting their young from most forms of land and or aerial predation and we were able to, for one reason or another, rule out culprits such as Mink, Grey Herons, Foxes...

For those that have expressed an interest in the G-f Helleborines in Lincs, I haven't forgotten about you! Checked on them today and they need just a little more time.
