Maybe a western bird in the east?

Well, Lagopus and Chris, I have a question about the bill. On my pics, I can definitely see that the tip is dark. But I do agree with you both that on my bird, the bill is wide, and the Alder/Willow is wide too. But the Alder and Willow does not have that darkness at the tip like mine does...

Maybe a western bird in the east?

Hey B Lagopus, thanks so much for taking a look for me. You almost had me talked into it being the Alder, until my husband pointed out that my bird has a notched, or somewhat notched tail, and the Alder has a square tail. That's confusing! Because my bird doesn't have the white outer edges on...

This may be a Lark Sparrow, juvenile. I'm not sure. It is the size of Lark Sparrow anyway. I also thought maybe a lark bunting, but that one is really rare for my area. Could you all please help me out? This bird was in really thick weeds, on the edge of a huge pond, in a huge open area...

    gardening for moths

Oh goodness! I didn't soak any of mine. I had about 30 seeds and I dug up and scattered the top of the ground and poked the seeds in there! They took off. And then when winter came, I collected the seeds from the pods when they were ready. The spring, dug up and scattered the ground, and...
