Twitching by numbers - Book only available on Amazon

Well we had the "George Michael" of birding. Who knew that we had the "Cosmo Smallpiece" of birding too? This is all very sad. This looks like the literary version of having your social media account hacked. I cannot believe that he did get some independent oversight on the content of the book...

    Miserable Birders???

I've been birding for just over 30 years and I would say that things have got markedly worse. I think there have always been obnoxious individuals. The first one i encountered was Mr Intheforest. Back in the early 1990s waiting for a boat to Skomer was talking to a man from Hampshire and I...

    What has happened to BUBO

Not just me then. Typical of technology. You invest all that time putting lists on there because it's ostensibly user friendly and doesn't neeed any physical storage and goes up in a puff of smoke. Going to buy an A4 exercise book at least you can rely on pen and paper.

    Majorca base

You will not get better than the Mallorca 2017 on this thread (or the 2016. 2015 etc before it). I holidayed there in 2015 and the advice and help that I received on the relevant thread was absolutely fantastic from those living on the island and those who have stayed. It was the first time that...

    Help wanted

Would be grateful for any help possible. Wife is dead set on going to Lake Garda and I am most definitely not. The prospect of not being able to set foot off tarmac in a bird-less desert devoid of any birdlife and full of gun totting people just doesn't do it for me! Otherwise I'd go to Essex...

    Reykjavik November

Due to go to Reykjavik in mid November for 3 days. Unlike usual holidays will not have a car but will apparently be going on something called the Golden Circle Tour. Which I assume means hours on a coach punctuated by a couple of 10 minute breaks to walk around a shop. Don't ask, not my choice...

    Mallorca 2015

Really sorry to hear that Mike. All the very best for a quick recovery. Your help prior and during my trip in May/June (my first time birding abroad) was invaluable and so appreciated. It enabled me to really enjoy what the beautiful island has. Best wishes Mike

    Mallorca 2015

Many thanks for help with Depuradora directions. Mrs. C was not disappointed with the views of Bee Eaters. Flying and on wires. Also happy with a flypast from two Hoopoes at the tower. This was my first ever attempt at birding abroad and 10 new birds was the dream. I. Achieved that through...

    Mallorca 2015

I would love to try to show my wife and daughter Bee Eaters and obviously would as always love to see them myself. Can anyone please advise how to get to the Depuradora at S'albufera? Starting from the reserve entrance on main road can it be accessed from within the reserve or do we need to...

    Mallorca 2015

Have been on Majorca since Saturday 30th and have been absolutely blown away by the stunning scenery and the variety of it. This is the first time that I have birded abroad and I was hoping to see 5 new birds but realistically thought it would be 3 whilst dreaming of double figures. Birding has...

    Mallorca 2015

Two days to go and getting a little bit excited. Thanks again for all advice given. One final question. Obviously have been reading any trip reports I can find and there appears to be a few referring to "arrived at 9:30 and managed to get the last parking space at S'albufera" Given that Mrs C is...

    Mallorca 2015

Thank you very much to everyone who took time out to respond to my questions. I have only now had opportunity to log in so apologies in replying. Your responses have given me lots of ideas and much optimism. All I have to do now is count down the days!! Once again thank you very much (BirdForum...

    Mallorca 2015

Hi to anybody reading. I would be very grateful for any advice and guidance in respect of bird-watching in Majorca. To put it into context. I have been birding for some 25 years but have never done any outside of the UK. Needless to say I am quite excited. Some of the birds I am likely to see...

It's great because you don't have to listen to the dirge they released in the name of music, pure and simple. Mind you Kym Marsh.................

Is a Golden Oriole possible in Dorset?

Seriously though - I don't have a problem with you plugging your book. Reading about escapades, joys, frustrations, quirky things etc whilst birding is always a pleasure. 100 times better than all those posts that allude to stories from the past which sound fascinating and hillarious but oh...

    Norfolk birding

I can't believe that RSPB are being attacked on here. There are a few minor things that have made me have a small grumble over the years I admit. But I had the pleasure of spending 4 days in Norfolk,Suffolk, Cambs this week and visited 4 RSPB sites with at least 1 in each county and saw or heard...
