Good composition and lighting. These birds have almost disappeared from the Fla. panhandle - even Wakulla Springs doesn't have them any more.

    least bittern

The small least bittern breeds in the eastern U.S. and some of them spend the winter in northwest Florida. It is secretive usuallly, but this bird barely noticed me as I slowly walked up and took this photo. I guess it was focusing only on the fish.

Wow, what a great shot. When I was in Madera Canyon a few years ago I was lucky to even see this bird, much less get such a nice photo as you did.

Great shot of this neat bird. I've been to the Viera Wetlands. It's a very good place to photograph wildlife right from the car.

Review by 'Ron Houser' on item '120-400mm F4.5-5.6 APO DG OS'

I've had this lens for only 2 days, but after using it to photograph a few birds in trees, I am very impressed. It is much sharper than my old Sigma 400mm APO, which just quit autofocusing. This is a fairly big, heavy lens but I use it on a homemade gunstock mount with my Sony Alpha 100 camera...

Nice action shot, but the mocker had better be very cautious around this little terror. Otherwise he would be eaten.

Nice shot, Alan, but it isn't a song sparrow. It is a chipping sparrow. Note the unstreaked breast and the rusty cap.

Nice shot, Duke. These birds have spread to the U.S. in the last 15 years or so. They are common in the south now and seem to get along with our native mourning doves but primarily live in towns and residential areas.

Anybody else shooting with the Maxxum 7D?

shutter lock on 7D yes, I had the same thing happen when I tried to use the camera for digiscoping with a spotting scope. I called Minolta and they said to turn off the shutter lock and leave it off. That's what I did and haven't had any more problems.

    Minolta 7d and 200-500 Tamron

Another 7D owner Mike, I have had my K/M 7D for several months now and am very pleased. I'm using a Sigma 400mm APO also and I find that it is adequately sharp, especially when stopped down. How does your Sigma 400 lens compare to your 100-400mm zoom that you took to Panama? I especially...
