    Nikon compacts?

Hi I've been looking thru the threads on pocket/small bins and see that some recommend the Nikon Sprint III (£35 + p&p from Warehouse X) - but just I've seen Nikon Sprint IV on ebay (£49 inc p&p). Anyone know the difference between III's and IV's?? Or has anyone any links to "good" cheap...

    Error-Report-Submitters Anonymous

Don't know what's causing your errors - I presume you've got all your MS software updated? But you can stop your pc restarting after every serious error....I've copied this from some XP help site. Q6. System Rebooting. Cant Read Error Message. I get the blue screen of death but it flashes by...

    Slik head!

Hi I've got a secondhand Slik88 tripod which I'd like to put another head on (yes two heads are better than one! ;) ) - no I mean replace the complicated (too many levers and knobs!!) one that it came with. Can I buy the multi-action head that comes with the Slik D3 anywhere? or can anyone...

    imagic 65, any good?

I had considered being as devious as you suggest Pete, but their offer is repair (ie replace objective lens of HR60 c.£110) or replacement in the form of the imagic 65. Its a bit lighter than the hr60 and new it would have a warranty, but image quality? and don't tell me to go look thru one, I...

    imagic 65, any good?

Hi I've just been offered an opticron imagic 65 as an insurance "like-for-like replacement" for an opticron HR60. I get to keep the current 20-60x HR lens, and they swop out the body. Is the imagic 65 as good? thanks

    New feeder

Round here everyone has peanuts out - the birds all go wild for 'em....can't keep the Great Spotted Woodpeckers off, and today I counted 12 Great Tits on two feeders.......honest I not bragging, but we've just moved and I'm really enjoying racking up the garden list.

    Where to go in Wiltshire?

Thanks for that, unfortunately I can't get the website to load because Spybot stops the download of tracking cookies that the site use. Swindon's quite a way away really - or so it seems now we live in the middle of nowhere!! oh - what would you expect to see at Caen Locks? (other than barges!!)

    Where to go in Wiltshire?

Hi we've just moved to the Vale of Pewsey, were are the local sites? We've got quite a good garden list already (comparatively?).

    Convince Me

I'm in a similar dilemma, although not with Audobons. I've just got some Pentax 8x32s DCF SP from Amazon and they're nice, but I want WOW for the extra cost. So I'm gonna find somewhere with a selection of top and medium rated bins, take along my old pair and see if ANY wow me - cost no object...

    How do you test binoculars???

Humm.....it didn't take long for the one-liners!! I realised after posting the opening I'd left!! Ta Tero! ;-) Hi Pete - sorry we never made the Minsmere do - but I saw the photos!! I mean, as Leif has described, how to test each pair. But the diminishing returns thing is exactly why I want to...

    How do you test binoculars???

Hi everyone thanks to all who have answered my questions before......well, here's another obvious one - how do you test bins? After reading all the threads (and totally ignoring the "try before you buy" ones, cos nowhere had these bins) I decided to buy a pair of Pentax 8x32 DCF SP. Arrived...

    porro or roof?

..... waterproofing sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure what nitrogen filling would do to the innards of 'Sunday afternoon' birders! Yeah filling 'em with helium would be much sillier! Trouble is Nikon SE/E2 's don't look as pretty as some!

    bins with large eyepiece diameter?

Ok if we must we must, Pete! As you're also in Essex where would you go (don't mind a day-trip either though) to compare a good selection? and just like with hi-fi I'm being seduced to spend more and more!!! :-)

    bins with large eyepiece diameter?

I read the good reviews on them on another thread - one to keep in mind....but (I know this is bad!!!) but I want to spend more money. :h?:

    bins with large eyepiece diameter?

I've been informed that I have to look for bins (8x40/2) with large eyepiece diameter. Apparently bins with small diam. give a tunnel-effect view to my specs-wearing partner. Have seen that the Opticron DBA's have a diam. of 21.6mm, anyone recommend any others?

Thanks Alan, sorry for hijacking this thread a bit......I'd like to know some views on the EII's too.

    Mid-price bins? Opinions please.

What did you succomb to buying, Geoff (if you don't mind me asking)?

    Nikon E2 8x30 opinions

I wonder what the rate of duty is though? I've bought things from the States via the Net but only stuff under £18 when theres no duty/VAT to pay.

    Nikon E2 8x30 opinions

Ta, yeah I saw them, but says 1-2 weeks wait and I've only ever bought books from them. The dollar price looks more appealing, and then I'd go for the SE's!

    porro or roof?

Pete - I wonder about the "coolness" factor too. Many moons ago I used to be into Hi-fi (until my hearing got less than 100%!!) and I used to love the "it has a better sound" arguements from the "clean electricity" brigade users. Is there a binocular optical equivalent of "clean electricity"?

    Nikon E2 8x30 opinions

Have been surfing the Net for prices on similar bins, found this site, seems exceedingly good prices - but US dollars!! http://www.hotbuyselectronics.com/nikon_8x32_superior_e_binoculars.htm $390 for 8x43 Pentax dcf sp, $455 for the Nikon SE - is there a catch? Anyone know what rates of duty...
